Apple’s 2nd Gen iPhone SE will be the most budget-friendly iPhone on the market.

Apple has revealed its new iPhone SE2, which is a follow-up to the iPhone SE that launched in 2016.

Like the first iPhone SE was, the 2nd generation SE will be Apple’s most affordable iPhone currently on the market. It’s compact, it’s powerful, and it will be available for pre-order on April 17th starting at $399.

Hip Tip: Order the new iPhone SE online at Verizon and they’ll waive your activation fee. You’ll see the one-time charge waived in your ‘Due Today’ or ‘Next Bill’ amount at checkout.

Resembling the iPhone 8 from the outside, the new iPhone SE has a 4.7-inch Retina display, the familiar Home button designed with sapphire crystal, and a steel ring to detect a user’s fingerprint for Touch ID.

The back of the iPhone SE features a microphone, an LED flash, and what Apple is calling “the best single-camera system in an iPhone.”

The new iPhone SE contains many of the features of an iPhone 11 on the inside, including wireless charging capabilities and the A13 Bionic (the fastest chip to ever be used in a smartphone). It’s said to make experiences like photography, gaming, and augmented reality feel completely fluid.

4 iPhones in different colors

The iPhone SE is available in white, space gray and red and all three colors feature black front panels, including the white (which in previous iPhones would have had a white front panel). It will be available in three capacities: 64 GB for $399, 128GB for $449, and 256GB for $549.

Pre-orders for the iPhone SE will begin on April 17th at 5:00 AM Pacific. AppleCare+ is available for the iPhone SE for $79 a year or $3.99 a month. There is also an upgraded plan for $149 a year or $7.99 a month that covers theft and loss.

I’m glad, sick of paying over $1000 for phones that break and don’t last. Unfortunately with my work and today’s world a smart phone is pretty much a necessity though.

I constantly go through phones. Curious who has had an iPhone the longest? What model do you have, and how long have you had it?

      • Lolas93

iPhone SE since 2017. Works just fine, replaced the battery the day before the store closed. Before that I had an iPhone 5 that lasted 4 1/2 years before the battery went bad.

I’ve had a iPhone 6 since it released, no issues at all, yet…..

      • alh071

I’ve had my SE over two years and no issues. I’ve dropped it many times too!

      • Alyssa

I have a 6s since it came out and I’ll keep it until it either dies or I can get a good upgrade deal

I have had my iPhone 7+ for about 4 years now. An Otterbox is a necessity; I have dropped my phone I don’t know how many times and when I pop the Otterbox off to clean she’s still brand new underneath😍 not even a scratch. My husband though has destroyed his screen 3 or more times now (we got our phones the same day); he only recently put it in an Otterbox since he initially liked the Lifeproof cases. Otterboxes are worth every single penny 😊

Love my iPhone. Use it daily and for many hours. Had my 4 for 4 years and could have continued using it but wanted a bigger screen. Using an 8 and still going strong for I think 3 years now! Get a case it’ll help. Don’t know how people break the iPhones so easily after just a year or so

I’ve had every iPhone I’ve ever gotten for over 3 years, some I had for 5. Buy a good case, put a glass screen protector w blue light filter, clean it out ( delete apps to delete the unneeded saved data on them then re download a “clean” app), COMPLETELY close out your apps, turn it off every few days at night, clean out old photos so their data won’t slow you down. There’s lots of ways to have one for a while!

I bought the iPhone SE in 2016 it has been great. I love the fingerprint option and the ease of searching the Internet And going through multiple pages and apps at the same time. I want to upgrade to the SE2 really bad. A lot of people I know prefer android but for people that use the Internet and apps a whole whole lot I think iPhones are best.

    • Gscribble

      Same here!

    • Tammy

My husband has the original se too and it still works great!

    • Amberd68

I have the original SE too! Love it! I’ve been holding out for this one…so excited!

      • jennifer

I have an SE and I adore it. I have small hands so I really like being able to have an iPhone that isn’t enormous. Although this newest one is bigger.

  3. Anna

Great! This phone is the EXACT same as my iPhone 7…just a different chip…hmmm. I’ve had this phone for 5 years, so I may have to go with the iPhone 11…so many cameras for my senseless selfies and cat pictures. 🐱

My husband just upgraded to the 11 and the photos are amazing!! My daughter and I both have the XR and we are completely jealous of his photography now.

      • RH

The XR and the 11 have the EXACT SAME camera, the 11 just has a lower quality wide angle which no one uses. Hope this helps

    • jehna

I have the pro max and LOVE IT. worth the money spent 🙂

  4. Luv2save2

Which of the new phones would be similar to an iPhone 7 Plus?

  5. Mommy2jands

Best Buy has a deal where you get $50 gift card if you preorder now.

Owner of the original SE, and best iPhone ever. Dropped several times and still completely intact. Looking forward to an upgrade.

i’m so mad…i hate big phones..hate them!!!! my 7 was glitching so much even after being repaired, i had no idea this was coming, felt forced to get the 11 because no point paying for a new 7 when the tech will be obsolete. i’ve had my 11 for a month and i loathe it. too heavy, too big. actually hurts my hands to hold it and play a game. i paid 850$ for it soo i’m stuck with it but i want this one!!!

    • ToriSC

You could probably sell it for enough money to cover the cost of an se2. Yeah you won’t get all of your money back but it might be worth ditching the aggravation in the long run – especially if you keep it for years.

      • ToriSC

The Apple website lists an XSMax for a $500 trade in so they might just be willing to exchange you outright for an SE2. It wouldn’t hurt to ask if you really hate it. Why make yourself miserable for years. I can’t imagine Apple would like that kind of review going around for their 11.

Have you tried a pop socket? It really helps with the heavy, hard to hold problems. My son gave me one and it’s one of the best presents I’ve ever had.

My 83 old neighbor is still using my iPhone 5 from 2013!!! (I got a new phone in 2015 and gave it to him then) He did replace the battery for $50. It also has always been in an otter box.

  9. Pixie

I got my iPhone 5 c new in 2014. Still going strong but battery of course has seen better days. Have dropped this baby repeatedly and no damage ever. But I’ve been waiting for this new phone to come out. I only have 16 gig of storage so I have to clean off my photos on a regular basis.

I’m setting my alarm so I’m awake at 8 am EST to order a new one! Can’t wait! Red maybe?

  10. Bunny

Have the old iPhone SE and love it. It fits in the palm of my hand and in my back pocket (never carry a purse).

Since Apple isn’t making this small size anymore, I just ordered another old SE on eBay to have as backup insurance. Apparently Apple has a large following of people who love this old model.
