Midnight Sun book cover

Twilight fans – Midnight Sun is the book you’ve been waiting for!

Bestselling author Stephenie Meyer has finished the fifth book in the fan-favorite Twilight series, and it’s set to be released on August 4th.

Titled Midnight Sun, this book is a retelling of the original Twilight story as told from the perspective of lovestruck vampire Edward Cullen. From publisher Hachette Book Group,

When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella’s side of the story. At last, readers can experience Edward’s version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun. This unforgettable tale as told through Edward’s eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist.

The hardcover version of this book is currently available for preorder now on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Walmart.com for $27.99.

Definitely not the book I wanted from Stephanie Meyer… Where’s the sequel to The Host???

    • Krystal

Yes! Now that was a book worth getting more of!

  2. Belle

Curious what the pomegranate refers to

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

You read my mind! I was wondering the same thing so I looked it up. This is what I found, “…an open pomegranate is a reference to the seven pomegranate seeds that Persephone ate while she was underground, tying her existence to Hades. It’s also a callback to Twilight’s original cover, which featured a red apple of temptation.”

    • Heather

So glad you said it was a pomegranate, not sure how long it would’ve taken me to figure that out.

  3. Maggie

Didn’t she publish this years ago on her website and give it away to fans as an e-book? Is this different from the e-book that she already released free, years ago?

    • Crystal

Yes she did release it, but I think you could only read it on her website.

I don’t think it’s any different, just released as a book.

    • Jen O.

That was only a partial story. Someone leaked it back then and she got extremely upset and said she would never finish it, but she posted what she had finished for fans at that time. I’m kinda glad she went back and completed it. I remember enjoying it a lot.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

She started this one 12 years ago but paused because the books and movies became so popular. A small part was previously released. She finally got back to it when life slowed down.

      • Serena

It’s true the comment above! My memory was that she was too upset it leaked.

    • Christi

That was only part of it.. not the whole book

    • Judy

No, Stephanie Meyer didn’t release the book – someone close to her, on her staff, perhaps, took the first few chapters and put them on line.

    • Mel

No, it was only a few chapters. Robert Pattinson wanted to get more of a feel for why Edward was like he was and asked Stephanie Meyer for more information. At the time, she was working on an Edward point of view. I believe she had written a full manuscript, but only the first few chapters were really complete. Someone got hold of the manuscript and released the entire thing online. She was super upset about it and she wound up posting just the first few completed chapters on her website. I think it got as far as the part when Edward left after the Biology incident when Bella walked in the classroom and her scent caught him off guard and he bolted for Denali.

I’m gonna shamelessly read this 😁 Please post more about other books, not just Girl, Shut the Hell Up Already You’re NOT Relatable’s stuff.. 😒

    • Jack

Oh my gosh I hope you are talking about the author of Girl, wash your face! I can’t stand her either!!

    • Wren

      She’s a plaigiarist also, unfortunately.

  5. Christi

I may be a little excited for this!!!

    • Ann

      Me 2!!

  6. ThriftyChristy

I have reread the series over a dozen times and the unfinished manuscript of this story is my FAVORITE BOOK. I cannot wait to read the complete story!!!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Yay! So glad it’s finally coming!

  7. Daniel Giraffe

    I’m so excited!!!

  8. agh925

$28?! That’s crazy! Good for her. I’ll read it eventually. Lol

    • Ann

Same impression..$28!!! Too much.. too expensive

  9. JElliott

OMG my internal fan girl heart just skipped a beat. I’m not-shamelessly going to read this! But sadly they probably can’t make a movie, at least not with the same cast.

  10. Meh

So disappointed! I want to read her mermaid book she wrote, or the rest of the host.

  11. Mendy

Hmm I agree kinda pricey🤨. I might wait for a sale lol. This is kinda the same concept when 50 shades of grey came out with the book from his perspective.

    • amanda-12

50 shades was a fan fiction of the Twilight saga the author of 50 shades denies it but hundreds of people read it and 50 shades is based on twilight.

    • Mel

50 Shades of Grey started as fanfiction piece called Master of the Universe. I was in the middle of reading it when it got pulled. The person that wrote the fanfiction got a book deal and had to rename the title as well as all the characters and get rid of anything that was Twilight related. because it was such a hot read, it got made into a movie pretty quickly to capitalize off those that knew it was based off the Twilight characters!

  12. Annie

Books a Million has it for $25.19. I know Amazon price matches but sometimes I like to help other stores.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for the helpful suggestion, Annie! Good to know!

  13. Serena

    NO WAY!!!!!! YASSS!!!!!!!!

Make a movie too! Has to be original cast though!!!!!!!! Or don’t!!

  14. Lora

My daughter wants an alternate story where Bella hooks up with Jacob instead.

  15. Takia

y no audio book version through audible?
I do not need books sitting around my small place. 27.99 is expensive.

  16. Annie

I wish the next book is about their daughter.
