This Harry Potter Chess Set includes 32 chess pieces, playing board, and two drawstring pouches. The chess pieces measure 2-4″ each and are the detailed miniature recreations of the Wizard Chess Set featured in the movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
I was all excited until I read the pieces are plastic and the board is cardboard.
Not only that, it the board is folded in quarters. It breaks after only a few uses and then pieces won’t sit flat.
I haven’t been keeping tabs on the price of this, but I gifted this once over a year ago for the same price. As the parent of a chess enthusiast, I have found the themed chess sets (Mario, chess 4, Star Wars) generally run around 35-40, and a good deal is 20. About a year ago Walmart clearances the Mario Ones for $15, that is currently in the gift closet!
