Any idea where these were sold?

    • JD827

I haven’t seen it listed in any articles yet.

    • Stacy F (Hip2Save Sidekick)

The Blumen ones were mostly sold at Sam’s Club from what readers are saying.

  2. Crystal

    I feel a lawsuit coming on….

All these off brand hand sanitizers around have made me nervous. I don’t understand why Purell and Target brands haven’t been in stock better. Usually around this time the shelves are overflowing with back to school stock up going on. We bought some brand I had never seen at Rural King but I haven’t used it. I’ll need to get it out to check against the list.

    • JD827

Name brands haven’t been in stock because they have been diverted to health care facilities. There are many small manufacturing facilities in the US that are perfectly fine and have a chance to employ people. Check labels and research companies. Also check Walgreens for Germ-X. My local store has had plenty. I do realize that your area might be very different though.

    • Urvi

I totally agree, Carla. This pandemic has brought out a new category of fraudsters. Masks that don’t work, sketchy ingredients, diluted Clorox being shipped (Amazon sellers), IRS refund and relief funds thieves. We found some Solimo hand sanitizer in stock. It’s apparently an Amazon company. We hope it’s at least trustworthy. $12 for 64 oz. Amazon Brand – Solimo Hand Sanitizer, Original Scent, 67.6 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0873WRR2R/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_W3H8EbQ0FSAVT

Add to these people who are so greedy that they would buy all the pools at Walmart then post them on OfferUp or FB MP and eBay 3x the price. $20 at Walmart then they sell for 90!!! My kids want one but couldn’t find any. Money is tight I can’t pay that much

    • ebg

Just a few weeks ago I bought a 32oz germ-x bottle from target.com so keep checking.

    • Dollbaby's mom

I totally agree. I have been sketchy of these off brands. I did find germ-x and purell at my local target the last 2 times I have been. Keep trying.

It’s off topic but I didn’t know where to post this… I need ideas from you guys please…
My husband is getting a major surgery next week and needs someone to escort him after. I recently broke my leg and arm and am unable to drive. Our family members and friends are in different states. We have some neighbors but we’re not close enough to ask them to go pick my husband up especially during this covid time and they all have little kids to take care of. What should we do? Please help…

    • TiffanyRae

Can you take a Uber with him. With your crutches?

    • TiffanyRae

Can you guys use Uber? You can both ride to and from the hospital together. Your husband can help you to the Uber since he will Not have had surgery, once you get to hospital you can get a wheelchair. But now that I’m typing all this I’m realizing you have a broken arm and can’t use crutches…. what about calling the non emergency number at the police station and asking them to have a officer take your husband… there’s always officers that are based inside the building that do desk work and have access to the police car… also if a neighbor I didn’t know asked me to do this I wouldn’t even think twice but to help out. I bet if you asked one of them they would be more then willing to help out.

    • Amy

If you can’t use Uber or similar, you could try a medical transport company. Some are private companies and some are a division of the local ambulance service in my area. It is probably a bit overkill for this situation, but it might be an option.

    • Gege1804

I would say reach out to the hospital to explain your situation. They may have some suggestions as well. Also, your husband insurance may provide some help as well. I would call them and see what they say. Also, look in your area for elderly transport in your area. Another idea would be to reach out to your church family if you are a part of any and they would be able to help. There are companies that does transport from hospital and all. If all else fails, the suggestion below helps “Uber or Lyft.” I wish you both the best.

    • JES

Have you checked with the hospital or surgical center who is doing the procedure? They may be able to help you arrange transport.

    • Emily

Uber or Lyft as others have suggested. Not sure where you live, but in my suburb town we have a service called “Prime” (not amazon lol) that’s part of our public transportation system that is basically a van that can pick you guys up and drive you. As a last resort, can you post on next door and ask for some help from a neighbor?

    • Mishelle

Call your insurance company and see if they provide transportation Call your dr and ask them if they have a transportation list If not call the hospital and speak with a case manager and ask them for a community resource pack which usually includes inexpensive transportation home from the hospital

    • Neighbor

Hopefully it will all work out for you and your husband. What state are you in ?

    • Cherryluva

Be careful with the ubers. Ive had friends that needed a ride to the hospital and they were really weary and some denied them a ride. Id check with the hospital for non emergency medical transport.

    • Holly

Thank you so much for all your suggestions!! I just checked with the hospital and the lady said they don’t let him go home alone after the surgery and he needs someone to be with him. So I’m going to take Uber to the hospital and take him home.
Thank you again for your quick and helpful response. I hope you all have a wonderful day😊

      • JD827

If you live in an area with a city bus service most likely you have a free transportation service for those with medical needs but it has to be arranged in advance. Your husband may need more physical assistance than a Uber driver may want to provide. Line up a caregiver to go with both you and your husband. I’ve had good luck with care.com. Also I see many requests for help on NextDoor and people respond pretty quickly.

    • jennifer

Like the others have said, definitely let the hospital know what’s going on. Depending on the surgery, they may want someone other than you caring for him after.

    • Sue

Depending on your husband’s insurance they actually may pay for the transport to the hospital. Check with them first. They may have a specific company to use. Best of luck on the surgery and your recovery as well.

    • Linda

Try local churches. In our area there is a group called “Faith in Action” through Catholic Church and they drive people to appointments.

  5. IB

These were all manufactured by the same company….Eskbiochem. They are a Mexican company that to this date, continues to ignore the FDA’s request to pull the product form the market

  6. Rebecca

I was at my local Target yesterday and they had 32oz Purell hand sanitizer for 5.99. it’s been a long time since I’ve seen the big bottles for a reasonable price.

  7. dealzgurl

Maybe your local United Way can offer you a list of resources? I really hope it works out for you and your husband. Please let us know how it goes.

  8. Sherri

I found GermX @ CVS, and Tom Thumb
    limit 2 @ each store…
    CVS was $4.99 8oz…
Tom Thumb was 32 oz $5.99
So now we all have a bottle…
But I found them at different times…

  9. Jill

I make my own. Rubbing alcohol, aloe, and essential oil. So much better than the store bought in my opinion

    • Mae

Rubbing alcohol $5-$10 a bottle here. If you can find it, and no aloe. I just used the rubbing alcohol in a spritzer when they where out of hand sanitizer. I heard some people are using cheap vodka as hand sanitizer because it is cheaper.

      • Beth P

Price gouging. Report them. Google phone number for your state. This has been all over the news since March.

  10. Sue S

Oh my good gracious. This is breaking news to me. I will be looking out for this. Thanks:)

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      You’re welcome!

  11. KatieM

Our Walmart has started to carry more hand sanitizers – Equate, GermX, etc. All okay. Some online, too. I also found some on Newegg – quick delivery.

  12. Jamyules

Awareness: Avoid hand sanitizer with Triclosan as well. Minnesota issued a ban on this for their hand sanitizers in 2014.

    • JD827

It shouldn’t be available anywhere for sale in hand sanitizers. The FDA finalized the ban for the US in April of 2019. If you have something old in your supply chest than definitely worth checking.

    • Urvi

Thanks! Didn’t they ban it as an ingredient when they found the cancer connection? I wasn’t even expecting to see it anywhere.

  13. Big Heart

    Just use soap.

    • Joni

Using soap is best for sure and is great when you’re at home but honestly I am not able to run and wash my hands as often as I would like at work. Also, my kids’ school has sanitizer on the school supply list so I’ve got to at least get some of those.

      • Jenn Z

I agree hand sanitizer is key when out & about with my kids. We are avoiding bathrooms so wipes and hand sanitizer is keeping us safe until we get home.

  14. MaymeV

Prayers for our surgery/broken leg H2S-er. 🌞Also please don’t let folks substitute vodka for sanitizer—only 40% alcohol instead of the 70% needed to kill viruses.

  15. Meranda

Not to make light of a bad situation (methanol poisoning is no joke) but a legit way to cure it is to drink ethanol (aka liquor).

  16. hip2jen

My family just use isopropyl alcohol. I always buy the Swan brand 16 oz at Dollar Tree

  17. Sharon

This makes me nervous as I have been in a more than one shop that had a thing of sanitizer you could use and it has smelled horribly strong and off-putting a few times when I pumped some on my hands. I never noticed the brands, though, but these were big containers. No way to be sure, though.

  18. MaaMaaBear

I bought the Born Basic hand sanitizer from Target. Has anyone else bought that? I don’t see it on the recall list but I know it said Made in Mexico. Now I’m concerned! Thanks!

  19. Brit

This is super scary! Especially using the large pumps available at public places and not knowing what brands those were.
Whose kids are going back to school?! Ours literally just got through last week lol.
Scrolling H2S for affordable summer staycation items now!
So glad for this update and hoping no one has these brands 👀
