On the fence?! Check out this review…

At first, I was a little hesitant about buying wireless battery operated cameras but a friend recommended Blink. I bit the bullet and ordered a couple of cameras and I’m very impressed with these cameras. The installation out of the box was simple. I downloaded the app and it walked me through installing the WiFi and each camera was set up in less than 10 minutes.

I ordered separate blink camera holders that I mounted to my house and it’s solid. The good thing about a wireless camera is that you can mount these cameras anywhere. When it senses motion, it automatically starts recording and it comes with free memory storage to store film until space is needed.

The camera quality is very good, plus you can talk through the camera and talk and capture audio. I added 1 additional camera after purchasing the first 2 and it’s the bomb. The night vision is pretty good – depending on the lighting, you may have a depth perception issue when trying to see far away but for the most part, the night vision is just as good as the day time.

These were recommended to me by someone recently who told me what a steal they were for a set of three under $300 at Best Buy. This is an even better deal, glad I waited to buy them!

      Are these cameras indoor/outdoor?

      • Elaine

The black XT2 cameras are outdoor.

They are exterior rated, but can also be used indoor if you would like. The mount it comes with is meant to be screwed into a wall/surface though. Would need an 3rd party mount if you want to place it on a table or somewhere else. Plenty of options on Amazon though.

Love it! These are outdoor cameras, but of course you can use indoor as well. I like that they keep the recordings for free, sends an alert to your phone if there’s any movement, and let’s you see/talk to the person at your door. I am not handy and do not have the tools to mount it, so I used outdoor rated 3m command strips and they’ve held up very well. They’re completely wireless and the app tells you the battery status. You will need wifi.

If you have vinyl siding and don’t want to drill through it to mount these cameras, we had great success with vinyl siding hooks that just slip between the pieces of siding. Screwed the mount to 2 hooks, then slid them in. Has worked great for almost a year now. It’s also allowed me to tweak the locations over time till I found the perfect locations for the cameras.

The Echo Show 5 is about the size of your phone. The Echo Show 8 is larger. The 8 is smaller than an iPad but larger than the small Fire tablet. I have both. I like both, but like the 5 a bit better than the 8. I have never watched movies on them. Not when I have a TV, laptop a tablet. We have several Blink cameras. You can pull them up pretty quick on the Echo Shows. Almost as fast as on your phone. By having a Show by your bed, when you get a Blink camera motion notification, you can ask ALexa to show you the camera, and you don’t have to turn on a light, & wake up your phone. You need a good wifi connection and we bought electrical adapters for all the Blink cameras as they eat through batteries like candy! I do not have any idea how they can say you don’t have to change batteries for 2 years. The batteries were not lasting even two months.

Can you give more details about the electrical adapters?

    • Vironika

They run on batteries?! Bummer… Do you have a link to the cords you purchased? Thank you for the info!!! πŸ™πŸΌπŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Hi! Do these work if I’m out of the house ? Can I still view it on my phone or anything?

    • Amy Mincey

Yes, you get alerts from the app and can see a clip of the movement and you can also choose to view a live video or take a photo while you are away from your home.

    • Brooke

yes they will they run off wi-fi. I bought the 5 camera set and only have 2 up and running right now and it connects to my phone so when they go off my phone alerts. We have been very happy with them and will be putting up the others here soon. My husband thought I was trying to have Fort Knox until we were out of town and I had a guy at my house we were able to see what he was doing and have the neighbor check on things. πŸ™‚

I am desperately searching for indoor cameras that have both a monitor to carry around the house with me as well as an app that my husband can watch kids sleep or play while he is at work (works nights at the hospital). Our issue with buying ones without the monitor (wyze, for example) is that you cant continuously watch without the video cutting off. So it isnt good for watching kids or listening for napping babies getting up, etc. That’s why I also want the monitor. Side note.. wyze also stops picking up sound or is seriously delayed if it does pick up at all.

    Anyone recommend anything?
