We bought this as a gift for a 4-year-old who quickly fell in love with it and sleeps with it every night! My own children (4 and 6) have one each as well and they have gotten a lot of love and play. I actually still have my original Pound Puppy from 1986 and this looks and feels very, very similar. I was so pleased to see that since many of the “retro” toys I find for my kids are not the same quality they used to be.
The Pound Puppies come in a box that looks like a dog house, which adds to the play. My kids loved the concept of the adoption certificate and naming the puppies. They quickly set up a Pet Adoption Center and a Veterinarian Office with their pretend playthings. This is currently my go-to gift for preschoolers, and I would recommend it for kids ages 3-8… and parents who were born in the 1980s!
