Michaels No Longer Accepts Competitor Coupons
Womp, womp…Oh Michaels, say it ain’t so!
Don’t shoot the messenger, but we have some not so great news for those of you who love shopping at Michaels as much as we do!
Unfortunately, Michaels will no longer be accepting any competitor coupons. Such a bummer!
Previously, Michaels accepted competitor’s coupons from a lengthy list of stores like Hobby Lobby, JoAnn, and A.C. Moore; this new coupon policy update went into effect on March 27th.
So, how can I save at Michaels?
On the upside, Michaels still offers quite a few great ways to save! Along with great sales, Michaels Rewards members (free to join) score email coupons regularly and are often sent unique coupons like $5 off $25 purchase or 50% off any one item. Plus, you can now earn rewards!
In addition, teachers and military can save 15% every day on regular and sale prices, and it’s now easier than ever because you can sync your information with your rewards account! That means all you have to do is type in your phone number during store checkout, and that 15% discount automatically comes off!
Plus, you can still price match competitors if you find a better price on an identical item either in-store or online, AND they will even offer an additional 10% off as they have always done in the past.
Just keep in mind that additional store coupons cannot be used when price matching.

I was there yesterday and they would not accept JoAnn coupons. Cashier made it seam like it had been a new policy for a long time. (I hadn’t been in sores since March)
They used to have a weekly 40% coupon for one regular priced item, but since Covid, they only have been offering 20%
The prices are so high that if they don’t take coupons I won’t be shopping there. Bad decision in my opinion.
Totally agree
Yup I’ve noticed how they also haven’t been giving out their 40/50/60% coupons since the lockdown began. I understand that they’re probably trying to make up lost revenue from the slump in shopping but I hope this isn’t permanent because people are always going to be drawn to higher coupons and they aren’t really making their new reward system worth it (what’s the point of having people sign up if you don’t give an exclusive coupon at least once a month? 30% off an entire purchase coupon doesn’t cut it).
Weird, I’ve, used JoAnn’s coupons since March 27 at our Michaels including last Sunday, no issues. That stinks though I like JoAnns prices but have several Michaels stores in closer proximity.
Same here I’ve used JoAnns coupons at my local Michael’s store this month in DFW, TX.
Hobby Lobby still has weekly 40% off coupons. I will be taking my business there.
Hobby Lobby has never accepted competitor coupons in my area. I used to shop the best craft store coupon–usually AC Moore–but now Michaels bought them. I guess it is a matter of time before Joanne’s follows suit.
Noooo… I always used to do this and with Joann fabrics too. They are both overpriced so you HAVE to use the coupons to get it down to reasonable prices!
Agreed!!
There are 2 in my area that had been doing this. I posted about it on one of your previous post.
🙁….On the bright side, I went to Target recently. At mine in the past they stopped price matching, but my cashier and a manager told that THEY DO (again?) price match. I was surprised because I gave up trying there a long time ago. I saved $35 in one transaction! Here’s a list I found online that I think applies: https://corporate.target.com/_media/targetcorp/about/pdf/price-match-online-competitor-list.pdf
I don’t know if they actually stopped, but last year there was a target near me that makes up rules all the time and said they don’t price match all of December until end of January and can’t do returns. I called customer service and they said this is not the case – but they didn’t do anything so I’m not sure if each store can make up their own rules? I happily drive an extra ten minutes to another target because they have better customer service and don’t make up their own rules and actually follow the policies posted on their site. Been price matching all year!
FYI- Now you sign up on-line for the military (15%) and senior (10%) discount. It is attached to your reward number. There are actually rewards now! You get credit after spending a certain amount. The military and senior discount is only on full price items, which stinks!
I came here to post the same thing. They didn’t give me a military discount last time because I had to sign up. Also I never knew I could price match or use competitor’s coupons. It’s too late now 🤣
