It’s hard to compare prices on TP because of this 18 rolls somehow equal 72 rolls, and then with others 24 rolls equals 48rolls. Is there any standard of what a normal roll is? Do 18 rolls ever really last as long as 72 would have?! Has anyone ever compared?

I hear you. No there is no standard roll size and it can actually vary within the same brand depending on what the store selling it requests from the manufacturer. If you are actually in the store calculate cost per sq ft—package cost divided by sq ft. Most couponing sites suggest a good buy is $.02 per square foot but that was before the pandemic. Online with Amazon they compare by cost per hundred sheets and calculate it for you. Take a look at the other brands Amazon suggests for you when you scroll down the page and use that as a price point comparison. I’ve also seen estimates that the average person uses 8-9 sheets per bathroom trip. Calculating how long a package might last is another way. If the price is reasonable not necessarily great I’m going for the softest myself but everyone is different.

I found Charmin paper towels at the local Walmart for $9.50 this past week and they had a ton. I can’t usually stand Walmart btw but all the other stores are still out. Hope that helps.
I do my math my the sq ft of the packaging. You basically want it to cost no more than 2¢ per sq ft for it to be a good deal. (I certainly have NOT lived by my own frugal rule in 2020 with all the TP shortages 🙄)
