Apple is encouraging iPhone and iPad users to update their operating systems as soon as possible to fix a vulnerability in its iOS. According to information on its support website, the company says that this update is necessary to fix security bugs that may have already been “actively exploited.”

Apple disclosed that the flaws in its iOS were reported by an anonymous researcher, but there weren’t many additional details released. The company said that “For our customers’ protection, Apple doesn’t disclose, discuss, or confirm security issues until an investigation has occurred and patches or releases are available.”

As a result of the bugs in its Kernel iOS, Apple warns that “a malicious application may be able to elevate privileges.” Additionally, “a remote attacker may be able to cause arbitrary code execution” with WebKit, which is used by Safari, Mail, and many other common apps.

Affected devices include iPhone 6s and later, iPad Air 2 and later, iPad mini 4 and later, and iPod touch (7th generation). To update your device, plug it into a power source and connect it to the internet with WiFi. Then go to Settings > General, and select Software Update.

The problem is that Every. Single. Time I updated my iPad I loose a ton of storage capacity. This makes me mad since most I pads don’t come with a ton of storage capacity like iPhones do. Argh I guess I will have to bite the bullet.

I agree ! Plus I don’t trust Apple , they say do the update but remember when they got caught sabotaging people’s iPhones and for that they offered to let their customers get a battery replaced for their phone for 75 dollars . Which was a load of crock because good luck finding an apple store that would do it . If you made an appointment they said it would take them 4 hours . Smh .

      • Jackie

Yes! I remember that 😡 I ended up not doing that because the closest apple store is 3 hrs from my home. When I got there they told me it was going to be 4-5 hrs maybe more. I told them to forget it, I was in a town 3 hrs from home so I was going to have to stay there and wait plus they couldn’t assure me it would be done. Seriously!?!? I love apple but their customer support stinks. Only tech support for a year and then you are on your own unless you pay extra. Then I have an iPhone 11 with 128gb but it does nothing unless you buy the extra icloud storage and pay a monthly fee. Why? If I get a phone with 128gb the iCloud should have enough memory. Now I keep getting a stupid message saying iPhone hasn’t been backed up every single time I open the phone.

          test

        • random24

jackie, just turn off icloud storage in your settings if you don’t need anything stored on the cloud. that will remove the message.

Updates make it worse. After i updated i keep getting messages saying change my password for everything because the data has been hacked. Not surprised Apple sells our data.

  3. Thelittleguy

Seems sketchy. They can release details and then let users decide.

  4. Wren

I do not trust Apple for a second. 😆 Hilarious.

    • brittanyrunda

      Right!?

  5. Lori

I absolutely don’t trust Apple anymore. I regret owning my iPhone.

      Same 🙌

    • gail

I agree! I hate being connected to that company in ANY way. I’m afraid to do any updates

    • Private

They also want to actively block conservatives.

      • faithanne

        This☝🏻😡

      • Libby

        Yup, and delete your apps!

  6. Dkp91576

I think none of them are really safe but at least Apple admits they have breaches. I love my Note for work and I love Apple 12 personal. If they gonna steal my details, they will lol.

    • Monique

      Agreed!

  7. MouringTheLossofUS

And let it begin folks, this is only the start! Hang on!

  9. Carlye

I turned off my automatic updates in my settings. I will update when I absolutely have to. Thanks for the heads up though. 😊

    • Valyou

I love every single one of these comments. Smart women on here!

  11. CW

Whenever they tell us (or the phone prompts us) to do an update I always wait a few weeks because their updates always need updates!

  12. ccmama03

Some of you just sound like a bunch crazies! What’s wrong with people?

    • rocme2

I wonder the same about people who care whether or not complete strangers update their phones 😂

      • ccmama03

I don’t care. I came here because I found it useful to me. I have an iPhone, so I updated. Thank you hip2save!

    • Heather

Wow. People are considered crazies now for questioning things and not always taking things at face value? Actually sounds smart to me: look at track records of broken trust and apply logic to make decisions. Is critical thinking a thing of the past?

    • Kruiz528

      Crazy for thinking for ourselves?

  13. Private

They also want to actively block conservatives. Sorry but there should be some freedoms even with our current political climate and make no mistake, Apple is involved.

  14. Nimogl

Own most technology now days and privacy issues come with the territory. If your worried about privacy shouldn’t own current electronics. Hate to say it but is what it is in this day and age.

    • hip2trade

      True.

  15. catmom

I have a LG Android. My auto update is always ON. In the 3 years I’ve had this phone, not once have had an issue. IMO, the amount of money an Apple 11 costs, there should not be even ONE issue🤥

  16. Smart

If you own an iphone the update is literally in front of your eyes. There is not even a need for this post unless apple wants to push for this update. And the truth is that we know what they’re really doing trying to censuring our freedoms.
