Let me first say that I never thought I would be writing a review for a paper towel holder, right? I mean, it’s only a paper towel holder for crying out loud. That was until I used the Polder Single Tear Paper Towel Holder.
I am embarrassed that I tolerated that wooden dowel 8th-grade woodshop paper towel holder project for as many years as I did. Had I know that this new technology existed I would have upgraded sooner, not waiting for the previous holder to break one time too many after multiple home fixes.
I absolutely hate my current paper towel holder. It scrapes across my counter whenever I try to tear a piece and it sounds like fingernails down a chalkboard.
A weighted base makes a huge difference. I bought an Umbra Tug paper towel holder (from BB&B with a coupon) with a weighted base years ago and it never slides. It looks similar to the one from Costco shown on this post.

Darn, I just bought one two weeks ago for $12.99! That said, it is AWESOME and I’m mad that I waited so long to buy one. I had a crappy, light black one that I had for over a decade and I wanted a stainless steel looking one to match my new appliances. Super happy with the purchase!
They will do a price adjustment at Costco ( if that’s where you purchased from).
