My experience (as a person who owns this one and the traditional rope kind) is that this solid surface one does not hold up to the elements well. The fabric around the outside of mine ripped, while the rope saucer swing is still going strong.
We have a fabric one from Swing & Slide that is 4 years old and still looks new. Not even any fading.
