Took a little while to get results but so worth it! I bought this for my son’s dad that was adopted from birth. Within hours of getting our results, we found a half-brother he didn’t know existed AND his biological dad!! Plus it gave some great information about nutrition for his DNA.
Purchased this for my daughter as a gift. I’ve purchased one for myself in the past. It works, 23andMe informed me (per my settings) that I had a new 50% DNA relative…my daughter. I like that you can give as much or as little information as you’d like and you choose how they can use your data. I feel safe and protected when I submit things using 23andMe.
I took one last year and loved the results, my mother was interested in it after and I wanted my wife to do it. My mom (76 years old) and her 2 sisters (65 and 70) did 23 and me. Turned out my aunt had a different father and my grandmother never told anyone she had an affair! I bet my grandmother never expected anyone to find out either.
I found out my dad isn’t my father, LOL I haven’t told him that, though.

These genetic analysis companies can make your genetic data public & cause trouble with insurance applications, law enforcement etc
Each company has its own policy. 23andMe me only releases information to law enforcement and only if they obtain a warrant or subpoena. So far they have not even released any. I can’t speak for the other companies.
