Awesome!! thanks for posting this deal!!
You’re so welcome!
When I went to place a different order this morning it said any part of an order that used Walgreens cash rewards to pay for it would not earn Walgreens cash rewards. Has that changed recently?
Hmm, thanks so much for asking about this! I’m looking into it now and hope to have an answer for you real soon!
Hello again! I did call in to customer service about this and that wording is correct. You cannot earn back more than you are spending when redeeming cash.
But, you can still redeem Walgreens cash and earn it in the same transaction?
Yes!

Kimberann1, look at the Walgreens ad for the exact language used. That is how you tell if you can both redeem and earn in the same transaction. Those are called “buy” deals. An example is “buy 2 Crest toothpaste and earn $4 WC”. In a buy deal the only thing you have to do is buy the right items in the right quantity and you can both earn and redeem in the same transaction. Start going through the ads and you will see exactly what I am talking about. It is always key in any conversation you will have about Walgreens rewards with customer service. The ads says…… There are only those two types of deals at Walgreens-“buy” and dollar threshold. “Buy is the earn and redeem in same transaction language.

No, it has been that way for a long time. When you are doing a dollar threshold deal (ex. Spend $20 earn $5 WC) Keep in mind that Walgreens coupons and Walgreens cash are not real dollars but discounts the company is giving you. Go back to the example. Use a Walgreens store coupon of $2 off the $20 dollar threshold and Walgreens counts only $18 of that earning WC. Use $5 WC to pay for that $20 threshold deal and Walgreens counts only $15 towards meeting the dollar threshold. Don’t worry about using manufacturer’s coupons those are real dollars that don’t count against your earning rewards. Go back to that example again, spend $20 and earn $5 WC. Perhaps You want to use $5 of Walgreens cash that you have and still earn $5. Spend $25 in total (OOP plus manufacturer’s coupons only) and redeem $5 WC and still get the rewards. Keep in mind that you are only earning 1% back on regular deals so it is no big deal to redeem on those. 5% on Walgreens brand. The secret to earning big at Walgreens is MANUFACTURER’s coupons those are real dollars that Walgreens receives and counts in your favor and that you aren’t spending. Scan every Sunday to see what you have in digitals and get your hands on newspaper coupons. Hope this helps.
