McAllister house from Home Alone at night

The legendary Home Alone house was just listed on Airbnb for the first time, and one lucky family will soon be able to book an overnight stay in this legendary residence.

You may recall that Kevin McAllister wasn’t exactly the most welcoming host when the Wet Bandits tried to pay him a visit one Christmas, but we hear that he’s all grown up now and ready to welcome paying guests into his home for just $25/night! So there will be no need to worry about swinging paint cans, hot doorknobs, or other booby traps during your stay.

The Winnetka, Illinois home will be available to rent for one night only on December 12, 2021, to celebrate the upcoming release of Home Sweet Home Alone on Disney+.

Booking for this one-night stay opens on December 7th at 1PM CT, so you’ll have to be fast to land a night in this iconic residence.

If you’re the lucky resident of the legendary McCallister home on December 12th, you’ll get to enjoy a cozy holiday scene with twinkling lights, a perfectly trimmed tree, and all the comfort food your 8-year-old heart desires, including some of Chicago’s finest pizza and a candlelit dinner of microwavable Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.

Be sure to leave time during your stay to indulge your inner Kevin by screaming into the bathroom mirror, eating junk food, and watching rubbish on TV. Then, when you’re ready to wind down, you can enjoy a viewing of the new movie Home Sweet Home Alone on Disney+.

living room decorated for Christmas

Whoever books the Home Alone house on December 12th will have the place to themselves, with the exception of one member of Buzz McCallister’s security team.

This person will remain on-site to protect you from pesky intruders. They’ll also show you around, arrange meals, and gift you with a LEGO Ideas Home Alone set as a cool souvenir to take home with you after your stay.

Note that this is not a contest, and guests are responsible for their own travel.

Re watch it, we just did, it’s actually quite touching. Also, watch the show on Netflix The Movies that Made Us, this is on it…you appreciate these movies once you know more. We’ve been revisiting 80’s movies, and can be enlightening how awesome some are..but never noticed 1st around. For instance, John Hughes always sets movies in IL, and they even got John Williams tonscore Home Alone…and John Candy did his part for free! Movies that Made Us…watch it!

He will not be convinced 😆 It was the ONLY VHS tape that his grandmother had when he was growing up and they couldn’t pick up any antenna channels so it was the only thing he could do for entertainment. His brother loved the movie so it would get played over and over and over and over and over again…. There’s no converting him back to being a fan lol. It’s not even remotely on my top Christmas movies list either, so nobody in our house is missing it 😆

Oh, I agree about watching that series! I’ve come up with compelling reasons to make my DH watch movies I love and he would refuse to sit through after seeing them on there!! lol

I’m right there with him 😝

  3. Melissa

What are the chances of being able to book it??🤩

  4. AmandaShivonne

I love that it is hosted by “Buzz” 😂 how is it only a 4 person house, though?!

    • Anne

I was wondering this too. It’s only 2 bedrooms. I’m guessing they’re not giving you full access to the entire house.

I don’t understand, I looked at airbnb listing. So on Dec. 7th one can go on to listing and attempt to book it? Don’t get the logistics of how a person is chosen? 1st one to book?

They had the Scream house from the original in October, complete with David Arquette as a host. I tried so hard to get in but they went quickly!

  7. Kathryn

Is it really only $25 per night?

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

That’s what is posted on the Airbnb site.
