Taking a trip to your local Goodwill?
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and that’s one thing you’ll find commonly when visiting your local Goodwill! This week’s Happy Friday Reader, Rachel, scored some incredible items to help spruce up her kiddos’ bedroom!
Almost all my home design lately has either been thanks to Goodwill finds or free stuff from relatives with a little customization. For the girls’ room, I was able to find the perfect painting of a little girl with a golden frame from Goodwill to go with a series of 3 mini canvases I won at a baby shower :).
The dresser is one-of-a-kind. It’s made from a scratch-finish changing station an aunt gave us and an emerald green piece with dollar store bins on top. We also used glossy paint and a set of mix-and-match knobs I found a while back on a clearance sale at Anthropologie. In total, I spent $18 on the artwork and upgraded dresser, counting the bit of paint – a Happy Friday project indeed!
Rachel, your girls’ room looks incredible! With a little sourcing and some motivation, you can completely renovate any room at the best price with quality items. 🤩

I go to yard sales all the time. And let me tell you, you can save so much money. and think of what you’re doing for the environment too! I love saving items that may be discarded and I love being able to decorate with previously loved items!
I agree! ❤️🙌 I love finding furniture and decor items and making them my own with a little paint or hardware. Thanks for commenting! 🥰
I’m so glad to share my ‘hip tip’ :). It was fun to look for treasures, and a definite plus to give new use to previously loved things. Thank you, Hip2Save, for sharing everyday!
You’re SO very welcome, Rachel! ❤️ Thank YOU again for sharing your treasures with us! SO inspiring! 💞
Love this! Also join your neighborhood Buy Nothing site on Facebook. Loads of furniture and kid stuff.
In NYC there is an Instagram site called StoopingNYC. Lots of furniture out on the streets of New York. Some brand new!
Wow! Thanks for mentioning that! Sounds like another great way to grab some great pre-owned items! 🎉❤️
I love the idea and the DeGrazia art, my family collected lots of his art over the years. Brings back good memories. 🙂
Yes, his art is amazing. DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun is perfect for a little girl’s room. So glad this brought back good memories of your family.
I saw this piece in the store and couldn’t believe it, it was so pretty. I’m really glad my girls can enjoy it and maybe keep it in the long run to use in their nursery one day.
Yes! I have a few items that have been passed down to me, and I cherish them. Hoping your girls will too!💕
