Hi Amber, unfortunately no. You cannot use this code to o upgrade your account. They have this deal every year and we have been with Plex for over 5 years. You cannot use this code if you are an existing customer.
Does anyone use this? Is this a viable substitute for cable?
Use it for years. Not particularly. It is better for someone is supplying their own media. Their are streaming channels you can add that would be considered more cord cutting. Plex can actually stream live cable or OTA tv, as long as you have the right network based tuner. I still have Comcast, but I can send any of my channels anywhere, as well as record.
