Your teachers are still providing all of the materials. If you are homeschooling , you should qualify. As a teacher, I understand it is hard for you, but it is just as hard for us. Comments like this devalue the work that your child’s teacher is doing. Good luck and I’ll be happy to have my coupon with you since you are doing so much.

🤔 really??? Trust me when I say that teachers are doing twice as much work as before. Those parents that are devaluing the work teachers do with comments like these I think are the ones who has no idea nor were they involved in their child’s education. All of a sudden it’s too much 😒
I don’t think there is ANY devaluation of teachers in her comment. I homeschool my two children and it would be amazing to be recognized as an educator myself in some of these coupon deals.
And you should be, because homeschooling is different from what parents are doing during the pandemic. Most parents now are facilitating their kids’ learning. They are not creating the materials, doing assessments, making sure they match up to state standards, etc. Traditional homeschooling parents are doing what teachers do. These parents who are just now realizing how hard teachers work should not be throwing around the word “homeschooling” like that’s what they’re doing. It devalues what you do.
Comments like the ones above make me terrified of the world my child lives in. Since when do we need to compare who is doing more for our children?!! For those saying teachers are doing twice as more- how do you know that? I promise you- I am doing ALL I CAN for my child. I promise you- her teacher is doing just as much, but it doesn’t honestly matter who’s doing more… what matters is that we are all doing SOMETHING! We need to come together- not apart. No one is better than anyone. We are all just trying to do what we think is best. That’s all any of us can do in the world we live in today.
How do I know that teachers are doing twice as much? Well, the simple answer is because I’m a teacher in my 19th year. I have 3 different lessons all within the same class with an A group, B group, and all virtual group. My first year teaching was tough and this year is hell. That is how I know. It is hard for parents as well. I know that because I have a 3rd and 7th grader. I agree that we shouldn’t point fingers because this is tough on all, but I take offense to those who think they are simply “homeschooling” their kids when in actuality they are simply using the material that the teachers have put blood, sweat, and tears into. Using teacher made material is not equivalent to homeschooling.
Agreed! I’m a teacher as well, having to provide both seated assignments and virtual assignments/grades/zoom instruction. Like doing two teaching positions at once.
Exactly! I’m teaching traditional during then school day then trying to teach my virtual kids in the afternoons, and doing my planning at night. Almost like I’m working two jobs when barely getting paid for the first one.

The point is that ALL OF US ARE WORKING HARD TO DO OUR best for the kids. It’s all for them. Teachers AND parents are all stressed out and worried. I as a mom cry daily just worrying about my kid. We are virtual learning and I promise you, I have done just as much work as you and teachers have. We are using the school county’s learning system through online, but I have a whole binder of stuff ready for her. She loves to learn so I’m lucky. I have made flash cards, bought at least 30 books from amazon and online that will help her besides the virtual program. If you’re a virtual mentor (that’s what they call the student’s helper in our county)- you have to help with extras like art, music, and gym. I’m super creative so it’s been easy to come up with things. I have loved doing this. I’d do anything for my kid. As most of us would.
Just because you have lesson plans doesn’t mean you’re doing more. I take offense also to what you said. You think we dont cry over our kids? I have spent days bawling over all those kids who have gone to school and now have the virus. I have cried and prayed countless times wondering if I’m making the best choices for my babt.
Shame on you for thinking you do more. We ARE ALL doing the best we can!!!!
You totally took that the wrong way. If you would have read the post I replied to she asked specifically how we know teachers are doing more. I know because I am a teacher. Plain and simple. Please take the time to read the previous post before taking stuff out of context.
It sounds like you are trying to be super mom and not relying on the help these teachers are working so hard to give you. I would hate for your child to be in any of my teacher friends classrooms as you seem ungrateful.

Umm…reread the comment above. The poster wasn’t comparing. The poster said that teachers are doing twice as much as before. Like if a teacher gave 60 hours/week before, now it is 120. It was not said that teachers do twice as much as parents. Deep breaths everyone.

I know teachers work very hard, but society is not doing anyone any favors providing perks and discounts for one group, while overlooking others who work hard and face many hardships!
For instance, why would corporations give free lunches and free healthcare to their higher paid, while lowering wages and not giving perks to the lower paid?
So what robots will replace us all one day. That does not mean anyone deserves to be a slave for the elite!
Some should try growing their own food, scrubbing their own toilets and taking care of their elderly.
It always nerves me the elite want to devalue, due to their own conception of education.
Never has the society been more educated, yet look at the amount of problems we have!
Paying people peanuts and demoralizing individuals will not justify the theft of the elite!
