So what’s so great about this microwave popcorn popper anyway?
Besides this gadget being inexpensive, it is also super easy to use! You literally expand the popper to its full size, pour your popcorn kernels into the popper using the etched lines in the bottom of the bowl, place the lid on top, and place the popper in the microwave for about 3-4 minutes. For under $16 you can’t beat the price either!
We also spotted a similar Zulay Kitchen Microwave Popcorn Popper for only $13.99. We haven’t tested that brand but the reviews look great (with 4.7 out of 5 stars)!
Once the popcorn has popped, just grab the two silicone handles on the sides of the microwave popcorn popper, remove it from the microwave, and your snack is ready! So easy!
And the best part is that you get perfectly popped popcorn without using oil or butter while cooking (see my flavoring tips below!). And this popper makes a TON of popcorn – I usually get at least 8-10 cups of popped popcorn in one batch!
Once you’re done with the popper, just rinse it out with warm water (or throw it in the dishwasher!), let it dry, and collapse it down to store in a cabinet or drawer.
If you want to add some yummy flavor to your popcorn with little to no calories, consider grabbing coconut oil non-stick cooking spray, and some popcorn salt.
Once your popcorn is popped, spray the popcorn with the cooking spray, sprinkle with salt, and toss!
Or, if you have a jar of coconut oil on hand, add about a half teaspoon of coconut oil into the bowl with your popcorn kernels before cooking! So delicious and very few calories!
Don’t just take my word for it, check out these great Amazon reviews…
“Hubs is a popcorn snob and will only eat what tastes fresh. I bought this for him as a possible replacement for the air popper. It is his favorite thing that he got this year for his birthday. I like it because it folds away easily into a drawer and frees up space in my kitchen.”
“This works well. I have had it for about two years. I have used secondhand air chute poppers, two different Nordicware microwave poppers (one I bought and later donated and one someone gave me), a glass microwave popper with a silicone handle and lid, and a brown paper bag. This is the best!”
“We are loving this microwave popcorn popper. It folds down to nothing and makes popcorn in no time. Loved it so much we bought additional ones for holiday gifts for family.”
“I was so impressed that my friend bought one for me as well. I got rid of my hot air popcorn maker and my popcorn machine which has now cleared the top of my kitchen counter of ‘extra’ appliances.”
I love that you can grab this microwave popcorn popper in a wide variety of colors, 23 different colors to be exact! So much fun. Grab one for yourself and maybe one as a gift for a friend, your movie night will be better than ever when you’re munching on freshly made popcorn!
Have you used a popper like this? Do you have any tips/tricks to add?
I own one and really like mine. It’s easy to wash and it’s collapsible for easy storage
Yay! Super happy you are loving yours too!
I like this popper but it leaves so many unpopped kernels and if I try to go longer the already popper popcorn gets burnt. I
I usually serve the good ones and then pop the bottom stragglers after! lol!! But I really do love this popper despite the few kernels on the bottom! We toss it with EVOO and some pink sea salt!! Delish!!
I have the same problem, and I haven’t tried this yet but I was reading different reviews just the other day and someone suggested heating the bowl for 1 minute empty first, then putting in your popcorn and popping as usual.
Next time I make popcorn I plan on giving it a shot, thought I’d share!
We have a similar one from pampered chef. I wonder how this one compares to the PC one. It looks very tall. If any Hip2Savers out there have both poppers let me know how they compare to each other. I could grab a second one to have if this one is better than PC
I have one of these and love it. My boys find it super easy to use as well, which is an added bonus. I like to reduce the power on my microwave to around 70% as I feel like it helps cut down on the number of unpopped kernels. If we are trying to make a lot of popcorn, we’ll do it in a few batches. A few added minutes, but a lot less unpopped kernels.
Thanks for the tips, Jennifer! Good to know it has been easy to use!
Jennifer, I also use a lower temp. I don’t have a problem with uncooked kernels. Love this popper.
I have a Cuisinart one that is great. I use Flavacol Season Salt (like the kind they use in popcorn machines, and I get it at a restaurant supply place for cheap and lasts forever), and Kernel Seasons popcorn oil with it. A half a cup kernels, a bit of oil, and a half a tsp Flavacol salt, then pop it. Will never go back to bags.
YUMMY! Thanks for sharing with us, Elizabeth!
I have 2 of these (one for work and one for home). I also have bought a few for gifts. We love them. Collapses so much smaller than my previous microwave popper and a lot less messy than an air popper.
We love this popper! We use it nearly every day.
I bought this because I feel like bagged microwave popcorn leaves a weird film in my mouth. I don’t like it. This thing is the best!!! Easier than stove popcorn and no weird chemicals. I think the packaging says to not add any oil to the popper or it could melt so we don’t but its good to hear you probably can.
Thanks for the heads up!
I would love to hear anymore season ideas anyone has! I love anything sweet. I also like a little spice, too. I normally sprinkle my freshly popped corn with a bbq rub seasoning. It almost taste like you’re eating bbq chips. It helps with the chip cravings I get late at night.
I have seen these popcorn seasonings at Walmart. They were right by the popcorn. Hope this helps!
You may be able to find them cheaper but I would check the grade of the silicon before buying, Some of them are made with fillers to make it cheaper instead of pure silicon. Do the “pinch test” pure silicon wont turn white.
We’ve had this for a few years now & LOVE it, we’ve also sent it to friends as house warming gifts. We like the Mushroom popcorn on Amazon because they’re Big pops but we have the most success with less un popped corn is Jiffy Pop White Popcorn.
If anyone has both, how does this compare to the hot air popcorn poppers?
This is so much less messy! I threw away my hot air popper after getting this!
I have been using just a regular old brown paper bag to pop popcorn. Might give this a try. Any seasoning suggestions or favorite combo?
I have the WW Weight Watchers version of this popper and every time I use it I’m amazed at how well it works!
I’ve only used mine one time and the microwave went out 🙁 I don’t know if it was just a coincidence or not but I’m afraid to use it again lol
Mine does this as well…every single time I’ve used it.
I’ve had this exact popper for years and LOVE it. I’ve gifted a few to extended family members too. I use Franklin’s Gourmet Popcorn Butter Flavored Coconut Oil (in the bottom of the popper) and it gives my popcorn a wonderful flavor. I finish it off with some pink Himalayan sea salt and voila!
ooh that popcorn butter coconut oil sounds great!!!!!
My son (then 14 years old) bought me one for Christmas a few years ago at walmart. Didn’t think much of it, just thought it was cute, but I use it ALL the time!! I always tell him it was the best present EVER! 😃
I love this popper!! Actually bought this as a gift too! Included some popping kernals and all! It was cute and much appreciated! On a side note, has anyone found popping kernels that they absolutely love? I’ve just been buying the Orville ones, but they seem dry/tough…. any suggestions are appreciated!
We have one of these and LOVE it! It is so easy to use that my 6 year old will make her own popcorn for snacks and clean up after herself. We love our so much that I just ordered another one to put into a graduation gift basket. This will be perfect to have in the dorm rooms.
We have this exact popper and have loved it for at least 2 years! Regarding the unpopped kernels, I’ll try preheating it next time. Also keep in mind that the older your unpopped popcorn is, the more unpopped kernels you’re likely to have.
I’m a popcorn snob, so I’ve always popped my corn on the stove. I’ve used the same old seasoned saucepan for 50 years! I’ve not touched the pan since buying this microwave one. It is the best thing invented since the air fryer! I’ve given them to both my daughters and best friend. Buy it now!
So great to hear that you’re loving this microwave option, Cherie! 🙌💕
You can pop popcorn in the microwave using a plain old brown bag folded over. Being doing it this way for ages.
I wonder if you can make caramel corn in this thing?? Gonna have to Google this.
Great question, Des! When I pulled up the product page, I spotted this neat mini seasoning set that included “Caramel Corn” flavor. Here’s the link to that, if you’d like to check it out! Hoping this helps! ❤️
