Planet Fitness just announced the return of its popular High School Summer Pass program for 2024! For the fourth year in a row, Planet Fitness will be inviting high schoolers (ages 14 – 19) to work out for free at any of its 2,400+ locations all summer long. Registration for this Summer Pass program starts on May 13th both online or in-club.

Note that we don’t know all of the information on this summer pass quite yet, but hopefully more details will be released on May 13th!

In the past, all High School Summer Pass participants have had access to free fitness training from in-club certified trainers, free workouts designed specifically for high schoolers in the free Planet Fitness App, as well as workout plans available online.

Does anyone know if your teen already has a regular membership, do they still have to pay over the summer if they sign up for this?

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Great question, Jessica. In previous years, it seems you’ve been able to place an account on a hold/freeze for the summer months to not be charged, while still having access to your Planet Fitness location. We’ll keep an eye out for further details on this promotion, as new information and FAQs are released! ❀️

  2. Aimee

This doesn’t lock them into a paid membership after the summer ends does it?

    • SavingsMama

That’s what I want to know as well! Our Planet Fitness has a bunch of reviews saying how hard it was to cancel membership and they kept billing them etc…I just don’t want to be locked into anything and have to pay a fee to cancel etc. Hoping someone has used the pass and knows how this goes.

      • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey there, SavingsMama! We’ll be sure to update the post with any further details that pop-up when the pass goes live. Hoping it will be similar as the pass in previous years where a membership was not required. 🀞❀️

      • Pure_intentions

I’ve read a lot of reviews as well. At least 200+ comments I’ve read about how hard it was to cancel and was charged with recurring payments. Some who took them from their account were billed and received mails from the collections. Hopefully, everyone will look into it before deciding. I’d hate for it to be a stressful situation instead of having a good experience .

I have done this every year for all three of my kids and have never had a issue. It’s such a great program they offer for the kids. The only downside is, if you older teen is eligible for the black card benefits (and used to using those features like the Tanner)… that’s not included.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Aimee! In previous years, there was a cutoff date for the pass without a membership required. We’ll be sure to keep an eye out for any further updates as new details pop-up on their site. πŸ’•

Does an adult have to be with them? I have a 14 and 16 yr old that would love to do this!

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Amy! Here’s the details from last year’s promo on this – “Teenagers ages 14 – 19 can visit any Planet Fitness location in the United States and Canada. Teens must work out at the location they sign up at and are not permitted to use other locations. Teens under 18 must sign-up with a parent or guardian in-club or online at PlanetFitness.com/SummerPass. Once the parent or guardian waiver is signed for teens under 18, teens can work out alone. Students who are already 18 do not need a parent or guardian to be present during the sign-up process.” We’ll be on the lookout for any new information for this year’s promotion. πŸ€—

in the past couple years I have only signed up for gyms and others with semi shady billing practices online with privacy.com. I had to quit LAfitness last year ,if you look them up with BBB the complaints are hair raising. they have “call centers” in the actual gym where nobody knows nothin…
my quitting was pretty easy because they did not have access to my money after the agreed cut off.
however there were threats and maneuvering for more payments and fees. when I belonged to planet fitness I had a special debit card account exclusively for them that I transfered $35 or so a month into.when I quit them I closed the card. mostly I don’t belong to a gym right now because of these practices.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh bummer. πŸ˜” So sorry to hear about your experience with LAfitness.

Does a parent have to sign up too? My daughter will be 17 years old in 2 weeks and wants to go with her other 17 year old friend.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Great question. πŸ’• It seems they don’t have all of the details available for this offer just yet, but more will be available soon. You could always check back or call in to your location to be sure. Hoping this is helpful! πŸ€—

      • Daisy Carrasco

Found it: Members aged 13 and 14 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when they work out. Members who are 15-17 years old (15-18 in regions where 19 is the age of majority) must have a signed waiver from a parent or guardian.

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

          Woohoo! Thank you, Daisy! πŸ’•πŸŽ‰
