So far we have a week on this protector without any issues. I have this on an 8″ memory foam mattress to protect it from mid-life night sweats, heavy body oils, and occasional accidents. For waterproofness, I poured 1/4 cup of water on it and let it sit 2 hours. Nothing leaked through to the mattress. This has a thin rubbery type membrane that breathes. I never got hot and sweaty other than my normal mid-life sweats. I have no complaints thus far.
I got this for my young son to use when we switched him from a toddler bed to a twin bed. To his credit, he hasn’t had any bedwetting accidents since learning to use the toilet, but he’s also just shy of 4 and I know accidents can (and probably eventually will) happen. The waterproofing on this was important, and it seems like it provides good protection in that regard. The other important parts of this product were the softness (though I put a fitted sheet over it, it still has an impact, and it’s quite soft), and the stated cooling properties. Bamboo fiber tends to feel cooler than other types of material, which is important since we live in a warm climate. Overall, this is a worthwhile investment to protect a mattress and provide some other benefits.
