Made with just beef tallow and natural honey, it’s a wonderfully simple alternative to conventional lotions and creams that often come with lengthy ingredient lists and plastic packaging. Tallow is naturally rich and moisturizing, making this a versatile pick for dry hands, elbows, legs, face, and more. I love a good one-and-done product that can replace several bottles in your bathroom, and the plastic-free packaging makes this an even better swap if you’re trying to cut back on unnecessary plastic.
Plastic-free candles

Beeswax candles also have a naturally sweet honey scent, burn slowly and evenly, and can last around 44 hours PER candle – that’s up to 132 hours of burn time in this 3-pack! Beeswax is also prized for its naturally warm glow and is a favorite for creating a calming atmosphere during meditation, yoga, reading, prayer, or winding down at night. If you’re trying to make more natural, low-tox swaps around your home, this is one candle swap that’s worth stocking up on!

I really enjoy this column every week it helps me make small changes everyday . Some of the products you feature don’t fit my tight budget but when they do fit my budget I buy your recommendations. Could you please do a review of hipposaks trash bags thank you
Yay! 🎉 So happy to hear you’ve been enjoying this post and it’s helped you make some changes over time, Eva! Thanks for the request too! I will pass this along to the team. ❤️
You are so welcome keep up the good work
Hi everyone. My husband was recently diagnosed with cancer. I have made changes to so many things around my house. No more plastic, I make my own tomato sauce, my own cheese etc. So many things that I decided to change. Cancer is horrible, and if we can make changes to help our children minimize the risk of getting it in the future why not? We no longer buy bottle water. We use several of the items that have been posted here. Small changes can make a difference in the long run.
Thanks so much for sharing your story with us, isabel. 🤗 Sorry to hear about your husband’s diagnosis. Sending lots of positive thoughts to you both during this incredibly difficult time. It sounds like you’ve made many thoughtful changes for your family, and we appreciate you taking the time to share what has worked for you. Wishing you and your husband all the very best as you navigate this journey together. 💕
Any suggestions for sippy cups for a 18 month old? She needs a straw that won’t let liquid out. All that I find just have the cover that shuts. I need something that when the straw is out it won’t spill.
Hey Carol!
I haven’t personally researched this category enough to have a tried-and-true recommendation, but I did some digging because I was curious! It looks like what you’re looking for is a valved straw rather than just a straw with a flip-top cover. The valve prevents the liquid from freely flowing out of the straw when it’s open. I found Pura Kiki, which is stainless steel with a 100% medical grade silicone straw/lid and is completely plastic-free, so that may be worth looking into! I hope this helps!
Yes, that is exactly what I am looking for! Thanks Sara, I appreciate you taking the time to research that for me. I was getting sick of looking for it.
You’re very welcome, Carol! I hope it works well for you and your little one. 🥰 Have a great day!
