If you don’t have self-rising flour, it’s easy to make your own using regular all-purpose flour.

For this recipe, replace ¾ cup self-rising flour with:

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt before stirring into the mashed banana.

Here are some fun mini banana donut variations to consider:

  • Chocolate Chip: Fold mini chocolate chips into the dough before air frying.
  • Peanut Butter Banana: Mix in a spoonful of peanut butter and drizzle with extra peanut butter after cooking.
  • Cinnamon Roll: Add ½ teaspoon cinnamon to the dough and coat the warm donut holes with a sweetened cream cheese drizzle.
  • Nutella-Filled: Flatten a small piece of dough, add a tiny dollop of Nutella, seal, then roll into a ball before air frying.
  • Lemon Glazed: Whisk together powdered sugar and fresh lemon juice for a bright citrus glaze.

Extra tips for making these 2 ingredient banana donut holes:

  • The riper the banana, the sweeter your donut holes will be.
  • Can I make them in the oven? Yes! Try baking for 12–15 minutes at 350 degrees until browned.
  • If your dough feels sticky, lightly oil your hands as you roll.
  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if needed.
  • Enjoy them warm for the best soft and fluffy texture.

I was skeptical, but the first bite completely won me over!

They’re soft, fluffy, lightly sweet, and surprisingly satisfying, especially warm with a coating of cinnamon sugar. Before I knew it, I had polished off the entire batch myself (no regrets!). Sometimes the simplest recipes really are the best.

This would be a fun idea to try with kids or grandkids, and I know they will love it too!
