FREE Food is the Best!
Did any of you Dress like a cow today?! Some of you may be asking, why in the world would I dress like a cow?… well today, Chick-fil-A is celebrating Cow Appreciation Day and awarding a FREE combo meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner) to any customer who comes to one of the chain’s 1,200-plus restaurants fully dressed as a cow.
Jen, a reader, and her whole family dressed up like cows and headed to their local Chick-fil-A. Each of them snagged a completely FREE meal– as you can see from their receipt above! Doesn’t FREE food always taste so much better?! 😉
I love any excuse to dress up ridiculously! I’ll put on a cow costume and a “SAVE A COW EAT A VEGGIE BURGER!” sign and wander the streets! I know these are rough economic times, and I live paycheck-to-paycheck like many others, but you couldn’t pay me to eat at chic-fil-a for various reasons (processed food pumped full of growth hormones, high caloric food w/ added sugar, the company’s affiliation with radical religious groups.) The idea of dressing like a cow to celebrate some “cow appreciation” thing in order to get a free chicken meal is, in my opinion, strange. I’m not saying that to judge the folks who did it, but rather the ideas behind this particular promotion.
glad everyone had fun dressing up like cows though! Hopefully it will cause a few people to think not only about getting their meals free, but also about giving less processed meat in general to the kiddies…
I did not participate for other reasons but I want to comment on your statement about the company being affiliated with “radical religious groups”. The founder of the company, S. Truett Cathy is a Christian and does not hide that fact. Chick-Fil-As are closed on Sunday to observe the Sabbath and I noticed recenlty that they play Christian Contemporary Music is their stores. I don’t see that that makes fhem affiliated with “radical religious groups”. He’s just a successful entrepreneur that is running his business as he sees fit. Hopefully that is still okay in this country! I often miss that they are closed on Sundays but I love the fact that they put their money where their mouth is. Touche Chick-Fil-A!
and may I also add he has to pay fines, because he is not open on Sunday’s.I have no idea of what MUSA was saying is a radical religious group???All of the founding fathers of this country were belivers of the Creator.
Again, I have no problem with the owner’s religion, my problem is that he supports radical groups that want nothing more than to see some Americans stripped of their basic civil rights.
I have no problem w/ the fact that the founder of the company is a Christian. But sorry, in my eyes Focus on the Family is a religious group w/ an extremist agenda, and I won’t support a company that gives them money.
I could not agree with you more!! I don’t care if they gave out free food every day, there’s no way I would feed my kids that crap. Unless of course, I wanted my kids to be obese, have cancer, and heart failure at an early age. Try feeding kids produce, beans, whole foods, legumes, natural stuff. Not processed, hormone-filled crap that’s not fit for human consumption.
For the most part, I don’t eat fast food. However, I will say that Chick-Fil-A’s chicken is at least real chicken, not processed and made into chicken patties like other places. And, I will also say that they taste amazing. Of all the fast food restaurants, I think that their food is the best.
our kids have NEVER been to MCdonald’s burger king or any other fast food restaurant. The only retsurant we eat at from blue moon to blue moon is Chickfil-A. Their chicken is really a chicken, not some “thing with bubbles in it”.
Oh and we have a blast being dressed as a cow all 4 of us.
I made my daughter a cow costume and she got a free 6 pc. meal! The one we went to was in the mall and they said to go down to the Picture People for a free picture. They took about 8 pics and let me chose a 10×13 for free. 7 of the pics had her in full costume and the last one just had a close up of her face. I picked that one! LOL!
That’s funny! Good for them! 🙂 I could never dress my whole family in cow outfits though! I’m all about saving money but that is nuts! Plus we don’t eat that crap anyway!

Chick fil a uses only breast meat chicken, they filet it themselves everyday. And The meat is pressure cooked so it doesn’t absorb as much oil. They’ve been voted by Men’s Health magazine as the healthiest kid’s meal.
It is a little pricey though. Without the promotion I wouldn’t eat there.
We had an enjoyable night. My husband swallowed his pride to be humble and join us for the family fun. We had 1 missing from our family as he was at a b-day party. The rest of us, all 7, dressed up, enjoyed some laughs and FREE food = 4 adult meals and 3 children’s meal, all free…I didn’t have to plan, prepare our meal plus it was easy clean up. We did not take a family picture as that would be too embarrassing to have posted on the web.
Right before we ordered, some gal/customer said ‘cows are my favorite animal, may I take your picture?” I put our 3 youngest together and stepped back, as I didn’t want to be in the photo. Then later, I chuckled & told my husband, I should have said to her, “Yes, for $5!”. Why not…you have to pay other places to have your photo taken with a character.
After the picture, she asked if we had made the costumes & my husband replied, “No, a cow exploded & this is pretty much how it landed on us =)
Our 2 & 1/2 yr old was pretty cute, he’d put his head up (like a wolf) & ‘moo’, us & the employees laughed & enjoyed how cute he was.
My 13 yr old pointed out a lady, who had a cow print back unzipped & placed on her head…like a hat. I do not know if she got a complete meal or just 1 item free. In my opinion & the rules, it should have been the entree free not a whole meal.
We live an hour from the nearest store. We’ve been there a couple of times but I definitely wouldn’t make a special effort to dress up for this. If we had one in town, probably. If we’re out of town we try to cram in so many other activities that taking time to dress the family up wouldn’t be worth it. I’m sure it would be cute to see though. I do know a few people who spent more on the costumes than they saved on their food though.
