Went this morning to get an our generation doll. Was extremely irritated that they changed the item and didn’t even post it. After the target CSM mad me look like I was trying to pull a fast one i just left. When I got to the car I saw on penny pinchin mom that the offer was changed. Second offer this week that I went for and didn’t get. I’m done with cartwheel.
Where did they have deals posted before this morning?
I think some deals were leaked, nothing was “officially” posted…that I know of, anyway, so I could be completely wrong lol. I try and make it a habit to check cartwheel every morning, along with my e-mail. 🙂
@Angie, I read somewhere earlier this morning that Target changed it from OGD to monster high doll because of leaked/advanced knowledge. It sucks because I saw which OGD I was going to get today.
This post is cracking me up! We were never suppose to know which toy deal was coming up. The only thing you seen posted was a “leaked” list and not an actual announcement from Target. So tell me how this is Target’s fault when it was a blog that led you in the wrong direction.
Agree!
Thank you! Targets allowed to change their mind! Maybe if people didn’t abuse deals they would have kept it the way it was.
Agree 100%!!!! My target didn’t have any of the toys for the week because of the leaked list. People cleared the shelves and were bringing stuff back for price adjustments. So unfair, glad target changed it! I hope they change all of them!
Agree and people need to be careful about what blogs they follow, why I stick to Hip2Save!
Totally agree
I agree whole-heartedly! People are complaining if things go 1 way & then complain if things go another way! Seriously?! Half the fun of “the chase” is to get up in the morning & see the SURPRISE toy deal!! Target has every right to change their minds — especially if the item was leaked ahead of time!
The offer was changed when people cleared the shelves ahead of time planning to return and repurchase with cartwheel which wouldnt have been fair either.
Lol that’s going to be funny, people returning the dolls. 🙂
Stores wouldn’t have to do that if people would stop trying to take advantage. That doll is still sold in many stores I’m sure people can find one to buy.
Wow that thing is just awful looking. Not sure that I would every allow my child to own that….then again mine is only 4 so she doesn’t ask for much 🙂
I agree Amy! I was thinking the same thing!
I agree! And my child will not want it because we teach her to love beautiful things.
I teach my children appearance doesn’t matter, my daughter loves any doll she can play with regardless of appearance. All her dolls don’t need to be skinny blonde barbies!
Us too. My daughter is 4 and LOVES monster high dolls. This isn’t the one she wants for xmas though ..she wants Bonita fema.
To think that by beautiful things, you thought i must have meant skinny blonde barbies… Lol.
I knew what you meant, Anna! Anyone who reacts to your comment that way is obviously on the defensive.
Um…lovely lesson.
And to see the beauty in all things
Agreed . I was so glad I woke up n feasted my eyes on one of the ugliest / disturbing looking dolls I have ever seen . It meant I didn’t have to rush over to target this morning
LMAO. Nice
Anna … Maybe I took your comment the wrong way, but I totally disagree with your “we teach her to love beautiful things.” In my opinion it’s about “finding” the beauty … And should that be difficult to do, then keeping any negative opinions to oneself. (“If you don’t have anything nice to say …”) To point in appearance, think of all people who have gone through horrific accidents or our very own wounded warriors … Some appear different than you or I, and unfortunately may not be “beautiful.” So to teach a child to only love beautiful (clean, perfect, pristine, normal, etc.) things is, in my opinion, a poor decision.
She didn’t say anything about beautiful PEOPLE. She said “things”. Very interesting how you jump on her for her opinion that a DOLL is not beautiful. Are you saying she can’t have an opinion about a toy? Comparing that to the “Wounded Warriors”?? There is nothing remotely the same as a toy and a human being who has sacrificed for our freedom.
Sarah … Anna stated her daughter would not want this toy because she is taught to love beautiful “things.” I guess it depends on what Anna classifies as “beautiful?” To her, this doll is not … A monster with human-esque characteristics. So, to assume a “beautiful” doll is something more closely related to the “look” of a human (like a Barbie) is not far fetched. And guess what? Not all people are as “beautiful” as the dolls Anna may be teaching her daughter to love! Hence my correlation to Anna’s statement and accident victims/wounded warriors. … And EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion. Anna voiced her opinion and included what she teaches her daughter. I then voiced my opinion. Just as you yours. (I have an issue with teaching any child what is the “right” beautiful or wrong.period.)
I am talking about beauty as opposed to horror and fear related stuff. All their plays on words are violence and fear related. Disturbing for a children’s product. For example, they spell “mall” (as in shopping mall) “maul.” Think a wounded warrior with PTSD appreciates this kind of “humor”? What about the word “maul” is even remotely acceptable to use as a pun, especially for a children’s product?? THIS is what i am contrasting with beauty, NOT imperfect humans (and we all are). I teach my daughter that ALL humans are beautiful, but that horror-exalting products are not, products that a company is only selling because they realized lots of girls stop playing with Barbie at younger ages than they’d hoped, and so they wanted to make a toy they’d find more “mature” than babyish and keep buying for years.
Anna … I really appreciate your clarification and explanation. 🙂 When I initially read your comments, your opinion on the doll was not my concern. (We all have likes and dislikes.) However, reading you teach your daughter to love or seek “beautiful” things, was what got me. I understand now what you meant … As I read it differently than how your written word came across (to me). I’m sorry for my misinterpretation and any further escalation it caused. Thank you for clearing this up.
I appreciate your response. 🙂
Wow Anna what a cold statement! Good on you MiisNoel :>)
Thia, please see my reply to MiisNoel above. I believe you have misunderstood me.
I thought it was supposed to be the our generation doll today?? What happened? I was all ready to go get one 🙁
I really wish I wasn’t stuck in the middle of no where with no Targets. A walmart every other town…but closest target is 55 miles away! Boohoo.
I was exited to get a gdoll. But I am also glad that they changed it because maybe so many people were doing the purchase a day earlier so that’s why shelves were empty. It should be like that, where no one should know about the deal ahead. Happy shopping everyone.
Agree with u on this
I agree, I just hope they do still give us the OG cartwheel deal.
I agree- 3x I went in and the toys were on hold or someone cleared the shelf day before, besides monster high is on my list this year, guess I better get outta my pjs and run down! Thanks Collin!
Remember- until dec 22, they will have 1 toy at 50% off. I got the planes, puppy and hopefully this which helps since I an aunt of19!
SURPRISE!!! 😛 Yep, that’s what the Target Cartwheel “Toy Deal of the Day” was supposed to be … A surprise! A list was “leaked” … Nothing official about it. And sneaky snakes thought they’d wipe out stock before the deals and price adjust after-the-fact. (Which they are not supposed to be able to do.) Angry folks took to social media about Target offering a Cartwheel deal on an item that was so limited in stock (ie Minnie Mouse). Target LISTENED … And they switched up the offer. ;] *mad kudos* Congratulations Target for keeping on top of this! I imagine the Our Generation Doll offer will circle around again, it will just be a surprise … Allowing a fair chance.
The offer was changed because the list was leaked online and people with questionable ethics were buying the items with the intent to return to the store and get the price adjusted and thereby ensuring they got the items. I am happy that Target caught on and changed the deals. I have no interest in any of the items that leaked but I am upset whenever I see shady practices because 1) it makes it grossly unfair, especially for those trying to play by the rules and 2) This ruins it for the ethical, play by the books folks just looking for a good deal or trying to afford Christmas for their children. One man on a board was downright IRATE that he couldn’t cheat the system now and re-sell the Our Generation dolls for a huge profit.
I agree with you 100%!
These are hideous and disturbing.
I liked knowing what the upcoming deal was so I knew if I would have to get my running shoes on a particular day or relax but what it turned into got ugly! I am glad they switched it up instead of pulling the promotion all together! We are not entitled to sales and deals and people started to take advantage of the pick up in store ahead of time and waiting for that day to pick up which is I think is a crappy thing to do. From what I hear you can no longer do in store pick up on these toys! It hasn’t even gotten to crunch time yet (post Thanksgiving-Christmas)!!! I am hearing so many ugly stories about these cartwheel deals like someone asking if they had any in the back and when the sales person comes walking out the back room another customer snatches it out of their hands!
I don’t understand why some people feel the need to comment about the doll saying it’s ugly and wouldn’t let their children play with it. I’m all about freedom of speech but like my mom says “if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all” if it’s not a deal you like just keep on scrolling. Geez. Your lucky if you get to pick and choose what toys to get your children. Some children are hoping just to get a toy at all.
Agree! If you don’t like/want it, you don’t have to negatively comment. We just finished packing Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, and those kids are happy to get a toothbrush!
Very well said Jen….I feel incredibly lucky that I can walk into a store and buy whatever toy I want for my child for Christmas. The fact that some children are so excited to get a toothbrush or a simple book really puts things into perspective for the rest of us.
Just to add to the discussion – there are mommies out there with tattoos and colored hair. I bet their daughters would like a doll that looked more like mommy and they probably think its just as beautiful!
A little off topic, buy is anyone else having problems accessing Toys R Us coupons-I have tried chrome, IE, and Safari!
It’s very disturbing, it’s really to bad. I never want my girls growing up with that mentality
Seriously! Hope that was a language barrier or just badly phrased!
That said I don’t make a habit of buying my kid dolls that creep me out! LOL. My kid is too little for Monster High though so no reason for me to go out of my way to buy the specific brand.
Good for Target !!!! I don’t have small children and won’t be using Cartwheel for any of their toy deals but it really irritates me when people try to abuse the system. I’m glad they changed their daily deals to make it fair for everyone.
I can understand the frustration of people who were planning on buying Our Generation Dolls today but I am glad that Target did something about the shelf clearing. The Target I shop at has wonderful customer service and treats people who use coupons well. Now I actually have a chance at getting a doll for my daughter if they decide to make it one of the toys of the day later on. Also, thank you to Collin for not posting the leaked toy list and feeding into the frenzy. The holidays should be a time for celebrating family and friends!
Purchased one for $7.55 today, my little sister loves Monster High!!
So happy Target did this. I wanted a Gdoll, but saw the greed in other couponers. We have to realize these dolls are for our children, not a competition on who gets more or who actually gets one!! I saw on IG a lady post a pic of like 10 minnie mouse, that caption “mad bro?? And the early bird gets the worm” but in a laughing matter!! Oh and to top it off she was freaking selling them!!! Geezz people!! I was beyong livid, because first the limit is 1!!! Second we all have children, and we would like to save money!!! Thats what couponing is about!!
My husband works at target. There’s a list in the back so the employees know which deal is coming up. For some insane reason my husband didn’t think that was something he needed to tell me. 😳 However, that “leaked list” that everyone is referring to has been dead on every single day so far, so I feel it’s understandable that people were disappointed by the sudden change. I know I was. My daughters would have loved the our generation dolls. Oh well! I still appreciate Target offering 50% off a different toy every day!
Wow, people. To liken disapproving of the horror-exalting monster high junk (a “screams” doll? Really?) to disapproving of real human beings who have “flaws” is short-sighted. I teach her to seek beautiful things, which DOES include ALL people, as opposed to horror-exalting junk some toy company wants to sell her. Thinking this also has nothing to do with being insensitive to children who don’t have toys. You have every right to buy this crap and give it to your children, and i have every right to voice my opinion out of my concern for your children and mine.
I completely agree I wouldn’t buy this crap for my kids or anyone else’s. It’s ugly and steering kids in the wrong direction. Monster high.. No thanks. I don’t know why everyone is getting all bothered taking your words and twisted them with something that is irrelevant.
Steering kids in the wrong direction???? How? Because it’s different then a cookie cutter doll?
Got this doll this morning. Paid $7.17 for it after 25% off target toy coupon and 50% cartwheel and using my redcard. My daughters best friend will be happy with it. I’m surprised at how many people have ugly attitudes toward a doll. If you don’t like it keep moving….Don’t judge a book by its cover.
I would have loved one of these MH dolls. My kids Obsessed but my Target was wiped out and it looked like someone had rummaged through all the MH dolls to make sure. I was lucky to get a Puppy….it was rhe very last one
I am surprised people are so upset at others saying they don’t like this doll. It is a toy that doesn’t resemble a person at all (it is blue!), not a human being. It is no different than saying “thanks but no thanks on that shirt/bike/backpack – I don’t like it.” I haven’t seen one person suggest others who do like it shouldn’t buy it.
I personally think these dolls are very cool and fun looking and my 13 year old loves them..I got the deal and used my 25% off coupon too..great price.
I love it!!!! Thanks so much for posting this deal! My 10 year old has been dying for this exact doll and I used the cartwheel/ 25% off and my red card. Thanks for such a good deal! Another x-mas item marked off
For those of you who missed this deal heres the “Monster High Power Ghouls Clawdeen Wolf Doll” only $10.78 40% off ! and ships free 😉
