You have to pay for the message fees. I have unlimited (as do mist people with smart phones) but if not you have to pay your standard text message rate. Sam’s Club is donating the meals

While I appreciate the generosity of SAMs club, can’t they just do it without them having my cellphone number? Makes me wonder what they are going to do with it and if I am going to get spammed.
I use my cell number for loads of things like this (even free samples and such) and have only had a couple of spam calls in the past decade with the same number. It’s also really easy to change your number I’ve heard, so if I ended up on any lists I could just hop on Verizon’s website and change it.

As far as other people’s concerns about being “spammed” from Sams…in the long run – you’ve helped 12 people have a meal that may not otherwise – *if* there is spam, I’m sure it would be minimal and it well worth helping those in need. As couponers and frugalistas, we should try to help others in any way that we can, especially when we know how hard it is to make ends meet.
I agree!! Helping others is more important than spam, especially when you can mark it as spam in your email if it’s bothersome.
You can also block numbers on your phone if you need to.

Agreed! It’s super easy to block #s that you don’t want and to change your number anyhow – so if I ended up on any lists I’d just do that. I’m not too attached to 7-digits.

Hmmnn, just wondering where tgis info came from. Once a conpany has cell phone number and zip code they have pretty much all your info. When i googled this it came up as a promotion with General Mills and Sams Club where you enter upc codes didnt see anything about a text campaign. Im all about helping but sadly there are scams out there—- does anyone know anything about this for sure???

I did quick google search, found details on facebook page for Feeding America. Zip code is only to determine which local food bank applies to you. You dont have to give a zip, it gets distributed nationally.
Frankly if someone wants to find out info on you they can do it….it is very easy with a first and last name. Nothing is private anymore.
