Staples: Master Lock Combination Locks Only 60¢ & Paper-Mate Pencils 12-Pack Just 55¢
Did you know that Staples offers a 110% price match guarantee?
Yep, it’s true! The 110% price match guarantee is calculated at the register based on the difference of the Staples sale price and the competitor’s price (note that your final cost may vary by location).
This means that you can take this week’s Office Depot/OfficeMax Weekly ad that has Master Lock Combination Locks on sale for $1 into Staples to price match and you’ll pay just 60¢ after their 110% price match guarantee.
Another great deal to price match this week are the 12-packs of Paper-Mate Mechanical Pencils on sale for $1! Take the Office Depot/OfficeMax add into Staples to price match and you’ll pay just 70¢ after their 110% price match guarantee.
Master Lock Combination Locks at Staples = $4.99
Price Match to $1 Office Depot/OfficeMax advertised sale price = $1
Minus 10% of the difference of $3.99 = $0.40
Final cost ONLY 60¢!
Paper Mate Mechanical Pencils 12-pack for $5.49
Price Match to $1 Office Depot/OfficeMax advertised sale price = $1
Minus 10% of the difference of $4.49 = $0.45
Final cost ONLY 55¢!
ALSO, I was able to snag all the items pictured above for just over $5 at Staples! Check out my post here to see how I did it. If you’re headed to Office Depot/OfficeMax, be sure to check out my post HERE – Amanda scored 13 back to school items for just $1.12!
(Thanks, Rebecca!)
Does staples match any competitor regardless of location? I live in Maine and there isn’t an office max nearby, will they still price match or is it more like Walmart and it has to be within a certain mile radius?
Collin, have you tried this? The way I read they policy it looks like they discount BY 10% not to 10%. I think in your match, for the lock example, your multiplier should be 90%, so total $3.59.
…wait. It’s 110% of difference, so minus $1.10 from price of lock.
Hi Katrina! The 110% is based on the difference of the Staples sale price and the competitor’s price, your final cost may vary by location. Hope this helps!
I know I’m tired, but I think the math is off for the master locks. When I’ve done the 110% thing before they just meet the competitor price and beat it by 10%. So match $3.99 – 10% (.39) = $3.60 total cost.
Hi there! After double checking, the math still looks to be correct. The 110% is based on the difference of the Staples sale price and the competitor’s price, your final cost may vary by location. Hope this helps!
Wow. Thank you for clarifying how they calculate the 110%. Yesterday I purchased online Elmer’s glue stick 60 count. Staples have them for $28.39 and Amazon had them for $16.99. Staples gave them to me for $15.85. ($28.39 – $16.99 = $11.40. $11.40 x 10% = $1.14. $16.99 – $1.14 = $15.85) Thanks! Now everything makes sense.
You are so welcome!
Yes, the math is WAY off LOL!! Sometimes it just happens 😉
I just double checked the math and all appears to be correct. Here is how it reads directly from Staples:
110% Price Match Guarantee. Valid 12/27/15–9/17/16. If you find a currently available lower price on a new, identical item, show us the lower price when you buy the item at Staples and we will match it plus will discount it by 10% of the difference.
I live about 25 miles from the nearest Office Max and don’t get their flyer in our Sunday paper. Will my local Staples price match if I print out the Office Max deal from the Office Max website?
I just price matched the Master’s locks ($4.99 reg price) and Sharpwriter pencils ($6.99 reg price) at my Staples store. It is 10 miles from Office Depot. The distance may vary by store.
I just price matched the Master Locks ($4.99 reg price) and Sharpwriter pencils ($6.99 reg price) at my Staples store. It is 10 miles from Office Depot. The distance they price match to may vary by store.
I ended up paying $0.60 each for 3 Master Locks ($1.80), $0.40 each for 3 Papermate Sharpwriter pencils ($1.20), $0.25 each for 5 Staples Pink Eraser 3packs ($1.25), and $0.75 each for 5 Pentel RSVP Pens ($3.75). Spent $8.00 before tax. Would have totaled $60.94!
Does anyone know what a package of map colors are? It’s on my 3rd grade supply list but I’m not sure what it’s suppose to be.
Map colors are just colored pencils. 🙂
Thank you so much
