  From what I understand it is a product that is imperfect in some way (ie thread or stitching doesn’t line up etc). I have ordered a bunch of factory second Carhartt items and can never tell the difference. The tag inside the pants or coat will sometimes have a yellow mark through it. Hope this helps.

  I’ve ordered several pair of factory seconds Carhartt pants from Sierra Trading before for my husband and they’re fine. There may be minor flaws but nothing we’ve ever been able to find and certainly nothing that affects fit and/or performance.
