What are some of your tips for going gluten free? We are thinking about it but it seems a little difficult to grasp at first what you can and can’t eat and I don’t want to spend a lot.
Mrs Felix, it’s not that hard. You only have to avoid foods made with wheat. So, corn, oats, rice & all kinds of foods are ok as long as they don’t have wheat. I did better once i decided to focus on what I can eat instead of what I can’t. I have an autoimmune disorder so my Dr is having me try this.
Make sure your oats say gluten free if you have Celiac, otherwise you are risking contamination.
I think your right because it seems frustrating at first but the more I have read esp. on Pinterest it has been so much easier to understand.
I was diagnosed with Celiac two years ago and have been on a strictly gluten free diet as has my two year old daughter (per drs instructions). The hardest part is remembering to read the labels on everything you already have or get ready to purchase. Many items have gluten hidden in them.
Many companies are now labeling their products as GF which helps. I’ve found that glutino, udis, Annie’s (GF not organic!), and Enjoy life are the best brands by far. It is really a hit or miss with some other brands, but I always take the risk. I also subscribed to gluten free living magazine and they do a really nice job providing tips and suggestions.
In order to eat out, your best bets starting off are Chipotle or Chick-fil-A. Hope this helps!
Thank you!
You’re very welcome! Happy you can score the savings! 🙂
says coupon is out of print =( mobisave has$1.50 off when you buy 3. Also ibotta has $0.50 off.but ibotta is not working right now.
Darn! Thanks for the heads up!
My Ibotta shows $3 off 3 as being available.
If you need to be gf for medical reasons , you don’t want to risk cross contamination. That means get all new pots and toaster and that stuff. Restaurants can’t guarantee that their food is gf unless they have a completely separate kitchen and diff grills and everything. Gluten can take 12-18
Months to fully rid the body, so if you slip once , you are back to square one. You can’t kind of go gf- it is an all or nothing thing
This is cheaper at ShopRite or Stop&Shop..regular price $3.79…Stop&Shop had it on sale a few weeks ago for $3.50
MY IBOTTA HAS $3 OFF 3 FOR WALMART, BUT I NEVER FIND THESE THERE. Did anyone see these at Walmart?
My ibotta has $4 off 3 at Walmart, but they only carry one variety. The other Walmart near me doesn’t carry any at all. I don’t know why ibotta features this brand in a store that barely carries them.
