Can anyone provide any direction? What size should we get for a family of 4 that likes to entertain? Is this a really good price or will it go lower for Black Friday? Thanks for the help 🙂
I just picked up the 8-quart for our family of 6. From the research I have done, I would probably go with the 8-quart for your family, as it sounds like you’ll often have more than 4 people eating out of it. Keep in mind that the max fill on these is only 2/3 of the capacity. I initially bought a 6-quart and took it back before using it once I discovered that for soups, etc., 4 quarts really isn’t that much if you are feeding very many people. As far as price, I don’t know if BF will be lower, but felt like this was good enough to make me jump. If you add something inexpensive to your order to get over the $100 mark (after the 30% off), you’ll score $20 in Kohl’s Cash too.
Bigger is better to make more food – but because this is super fast for making meat/rice/beans a small one would prob. be fine if that is your only option, because you can add the prepared food from the instant pot to your meal (ex. use instant pot to cook a roast and use it for sandwiches, tacos, etc.) Only a few dished you will make entirely in this one pot. I have the “Ultra 60” which is 6 quarts and I have a family of 5 and we always have leftovers for another meal when I make a meal (like pot roast with veggies) only in the Instant pot (Plenty big!). It still seems magical how well it works – replaces so many appliances!!! I had to wait a few months (and am still learning how to use all of the functions – usually just means me buying ingredients and pushing 2 buttons 😉 before I was comfortable getting rid of my trusty crock pot and all the other devices I now no longer use! Definitely worth buying!!! BTW–I can’t imagine the minor differences between the models make much a an actual difference, other than a bigger size obviously offering the ability to make more food 🙂 LOVE THIS THING! Oh – and I have never seen one for less than this price — seems CRAZY low and may not happen again!
Thanks for your helpful feedback! Happy to hear how much you have enjoyed your Instant Pot!
