10 Reasons Why Saving Money Will NEVER Go Out of Style
We love saving money!
Saving money can give you peace of mind and security and we’re talking about the 10 reasons why saving money & couponing is, and always will be, in style! Basically what we’re saying is that it will always be cool and Hip-2-Save. 😉
1. It makes you feel good.
Collin’s experience with couponing brought her so much more than bargains — the confidence and happiness that comes with saving money is a huge reason why Hip2Save has been so successful! What’s more, there’s actual science to back it up. In a study observing the effects of coupon distribution, researchers discovered that individuals who received a $10 voucher had a 38% rise in oxytocin level and were 11% happier than those who did not receive the coupon. Now that’s our kind of mood booster!
2. It’s more than just a fad.
Couponing has come a long way since its origins and it’s not going away anytime soon! Each day, more and more resources are being released to help people save money, especially now that smartphones are playing a bigger role in delivering deals. There are apps that store loyalty cards, scan receipts for cash back, and even send you notifications with deal alerts.
Hip Tip: Did you know that there’s more to Hip2Save than just browsing the website? You can become a Hip2Save Insider, download the app, subscribe to the newsletter, opt-in to Hot Deals alerts, and more!
3. It’s painful to spend more — literally!
You may figuratively say that it pains you to pay full price for something, but there’s an actual physical process behind it all. Along with the displeasure and distress that comes with spending money, studies show that paying stimulates the same brain regions that are involved in processing physical pain — whoa! No wonder it feels so good to save money 😆.
4. It’s good for your home life.
Financial stress can create some serious issues at home. According to a 2016 study, less than half of the survey respondents said they are comfortable talking about their personal financial situation with their partner. In fact, 68% of Americans say that money is a cause of tension in their relationship. Being frugal and using coupons as a means to save you and your family loads of money can ease the struggle and pain points that money woes can bring.
5. It’s habit-forming, in a good way!
Incorporating money saving techniques into your everyday life is a great habit to form. You can become accustomed to using simple yet effective ways to save, such as applying coupons, checking promos, purchasing discounted gift cards, and more. When you frequently utilize these techniques, it will become second nature every time you shop, thus forming good money-saving habits!
6. It’s becoming more common to talk about money.
Even in a world full of luxury that’s being displayed all over social media, finding a bargain has become a popular form of bragging rights — just check out the comments section on your favorite Hip2Save posts! In general, people are getting more comfortable openly discussing finances which makes the awkward “I’m on a budget” conversation less uncomfortable and the saving potential more exciting!
7. It lets you live your best life.
Saving money lets you allocate your cash flow toward what’s most important to you, whether it’s saving up for a large purchase, investing in your retirement, or spending it on special moments with your family — and those are things you’ll always be excited for! In Collin’s case, she loves being able to share memorable experiences with her family to create memories that will last a lifetime.
Hip Tip: There is more to life than tangible gifts, and here’s why we think it’s important to gift experiences instead!
8. It’s great to do at any age.
Any person, no matter what age, can practice a frugal lifestyle! Collin, her dad, and her grandmother, Ma, have gone deal shopping together to show that deal shopping spans all generations. Even Collin’s daughter Piper had gotten in on the couponing and money-saving action! Not only is it fun to share this lifestyle together, studies have shown that raising children in an environment where wise money decisions are practiced and discussed can benefit them in the long run!
9. There’ll always be deals available.
New coupons, promotions, and clearance sales go live DAILY so the opportunities to save are pretty much endless. And it doesn’t look like that will ever change soon, especially since retailers have tried to do away with sales and the strategies failed. There’s peace in mind in knowing that learning how to save is a worthwhile lifelong skill.
10. It’s always in style at Hip2Save!
For the last 10 years, and the next 10 more, Hip2Save will always focus on the hottest deals and the best ways to save you and your family money. But really, it’s about so much more than the coupons. This lifestyle allows us to continually pay it forward to people in need and to people who could use a little brightness in their day — and that, my friends, will absolutely NEVER go out of style. ❤

Collin ~ I found your website about 6 years ago and it CHANGED MY LIFE! That is not an over exaggeration by any means. I am a stay at home mom. It was not in the plans for me to be a stay at home mom. I had to leave my 11 year police career due to medical reasons. Looking back, it was a blessing because I know how rare it is these days to be able to stay at home and raise my children. My husband is still a police officer and I have a small monthly pension. Out of that income, we pay $1140 per month in child support to his ex wife for his 3 children from his first marriage. We have since had 2 children of our own. So, to say our expenses were tight is an understatement. We were living off of credit and DROWNING. I found your website, dove in and our life forever changed. You have save us thousands over the years, not just in groceries, but all of the other daily necessities, birthdays and holidays. You also introduced me to Swagbucks and the amount of money in gift cards I have earned has paid for Christmas a few times. I check Hip2save at least 8-10 times a day. I share all of that to say THANK YOU …thank you for your time and knowledge and making coupons and saving FUN! Come February of 2019, the only debt we will have is our mortgage. There is no way that would have been possible without you and Hip2save. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO !!!!
Wow! That is AMAZING! 🙌 You are SO welcome! So awesome that you were able to grab such great savings when your family needed it most. Thanks a bunch for sharing your story with us! ❤️ It means so much. We sure appreciate you being a loyal reader through the years.

What’s th story behind pic 7? I figure it was the Peru trip but is that a school?
My 7yr. Old once found a coupon on th school playground and saved it for me 😍😂.
I share the joys of couponing with anyone who will listen. My fil always laughs about it and says are we going to jail when we’re getting great deals.
Yes! It is a school we visited on our trip! You can read more about that over here –> https://hip2save.com/2017/04/01/happy-april-fools-day-2017-giveaway-and-pics-from-our-spring-break-family-trip/ SO neat that you and your son have enjoyed couponing together! 😉
I can remember my next door lady clipping coupons every week. It was the late 70’s early 80. She would clip and store them in a Nike box. Before her weekly grocery shop she would pull out the box and the adds and create her shopping list. I loved watching her. Thanks to her this is where I got my love of coupons. So yes I have couponed b-4 it was in style.
How neat! Thanks for sharing your memory with us!
Over the past 8 years I have followed Hip2Save religiously checking the app or website daily. My husband and I are both 33 years old and building our second home, debt free other than one car payment, and most importantly we we’re able to pay for 6 years of fertility treatments including meds, IUI’s and two IVF cycles that resulted in our 7 week old baby girl. To some people couponing is crazy but to us it’s a way of life. We could not have financially stayed afloat for all this without this team. So please always remember you all truly help people more then you can imagine. 💕 Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Congrats on your baby girl and the new house!
congratulation for your baby 💜💖💗and thank you fir sharing your story. 🍀🍀🍀
You are SO very welcome! Thanks a ton for sharing your success with us! Congratulations!!
Happy Anniversary Collin & team! #8 brought a happy tear when I saw Ma. I loved her enthusiasm in your Target videos, but I especially love the bond you two shared. Please bring your dad back— I’m curious about his view on your kitchen appliances like the coffee bar/air fryer.
Thanks so much for the comment and kind words. Ma was the best. I sure miss her. As far as my dad goes, I hope to bring him back soon! He’s so much fun!
I cannot begin to tell you how much Hip2Save has changed my life. You have helped me save money and have given me a hobby and a coping skill that is positive for not only myself but my family as well. Retail therapy is my go-to coping skill (okay, food is, too!) to help me take a break from my every day and deal with stress (it used to be alcohol!). Colin, you and your team have helped me channel everything into something much more positive and have allowed me to bless other people (namely the 135 teenage girls I work with everyday overcoming abuse and trauma) with all the great deals and savings you share with us. I don’t think you all truly know how much you make a difference for us, your followers, and those in our circles. THANK YOU!
I love Hip2save Thank you for the site!!!
You’re welcome, Karina! Thanks for being a valued reader!
Thank you for always helping us to save! When I first found you about 5 years ago, I loved that you were someone my age and wanted to save on things that were in style to give their family a better life! You made saving look cool! I am grateful!
I have saved so much money over the past 5 years since I found you all and get to be a SAHM! YAY!
I love the comments here, positive and so reflective of my experience on this site! Tears were brought to my eyes in these comments! I just want to say that if you look at a bad situation as way to pull up your bootstraps (or your yoga pants!) and do something about it (being frugal, couponing, paying off debt), it can be done. Thank you for all you do!
#4 #7 & #10 are my favorite!!! You guys rock!!! Hip2save has helped my husband and I reach our financial goals for the past 7 years and more! Honestly you all will never know how much that means to me! Keep it up!💕
Aww, thanks so much for your kind words and for sharing your experience! We are super happy you have been having fun saving with us through the years!!
I can’t express how grateful I am for all you have done for my family and I in the last 7 years. I am able to stay home full time and teach my three teenage daughters life skills as well as enjoying the short time I have with them. Thank-you so much Collin and Co.!
I will forever be couponing and using hip2save for deals / savings (etc) thanks for you do I appreciate you all .
This post is so true and this site has been such a blessing! Thank you!!!
You’re very welcome, K! Thanks a ton for your kind words!
Collin and team, you are like rockstars to me! 9 years ago I was a newlywed and pregnant with our first child, and things were good. But then I got laid off. We lost half our income (which wasn’t much to begin with), and I honestly couldn’t find a job and didn’t know how we were going to make ends meet with just the two of us, let alone once the baby arrived. Those were very hard times! That is when I found H2S, and our lives have completely turned around! I never did go back to work, I’ve been a SAHM for those 9 years, and now have 3 kids. We managed to move to a bigger home, we’re driving better vehicles, and are now even buying a new (to us, lol) boat. We can afford to buy better things and even give better gifts now. We have saved so much and are living so much better thanks to all of you! We couldn’t have done it without this site! ❤❤❤
Love ya, H2S team!
Thanks SO much! We sure love our readers! 😉
Life changed when I found you ….Hip2save😇😎😎
I love all you do for us Collin, my friends ask me to go shopping with them because I have become the coupon lady and always find good deals. I tell them about Hip2Save all the time
Either I’m not couponing correctly or something because I don’t feel like I’m saving money . Maybe I need to learn from the best
I love this site. I’ve been checking it daily since March 2009. My husband and I have paid off all of our debt including our mortgage. We moved, had to get a small mortgage and paid that off too. Living debt free is amazing! When I first started, people thought I was nuts then, when the extreme couponing show came on, everyone thought I was going to be “one of those” people but I (WE) proved them all wrong! Once people saw that I was able to get enough for my family (+ donations) for pennies on the dollar without any EXTREME measures, they started converting. So many people now come to me and tell me what they need/want and ask if I know of a way they can get it cheaper. It truly has become hip to save!!!!
Spending money on things you don’t need just because you can get a good deal, doesn’t qualify as “saving mom”. You’re still spending aimlessly.
