I bought a huge bag of grain free dog food and then a couple days later started seeing articles talking about it not being good for dogs. I talked to the vet about it & she said I could mix half grain free & normal, but they don’t recommend grain free. She said it’s a fad and not good for dogs. So, I’d check with your vet before switching to grain free or at least doing a little research first.
I agree. When I 1st got my now 1yr old jrt, i fed him grain free. he had the worst gas, and belly sounds. when I switched him to regular Wellness brand puppy food, he was fine. My last jrt ate Wellness brand food for most of his 17yrs. great brand, just steer clear of grain free
This depends on the dog. I have 2 Boxers with food sensitivities and grain allergies who have to eat grain free or they vomit and have severe bowel issues.
I have been seeing more and more articles how grain free is causing heart problems. Vets say todays domesticated pets are far different than their wild wolf ancestors.
Well I guess it depends on the ingredients, my 10 year old Chihuahua has been on grain free at least 8 years if not more and he’s always been super healthy. No problems here. No gas, never been sick so we stick with it. Dogs are not supposed to eat grains.
