This is off-topic but I’m trying to get the attention of one of the Hip2Save folks about the post last night on the Book Outlet $10 off coupon. Since it was posted last night, I thought no one would be checking responses. The $10 offer asks for a “friend’s invite code” and will not allow the use of coupon without it, even though I clicked on your link to get the coupon. Was the post only good for one person to use? Please let me know if there is a code. Thanks!

Hi Josie! It looks like you do need a friend’s invite code in order for that promo to work. I am going to update that post.

Awesome just snagged one, thanks! I got an instant pot back in December and it has seriously been the best splurge on myself I’ve spent in a while, but when using it as a slow cooker the bulky steel top is a tad annoying, this is exactly what I needed!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

That’s great to hear! You’re SO welcome!

  3. Lisa

Does this replace the bulky top when pressure cooking or just sautéing etc?

    • jeanette

no, you need the bulky top for pressure cooking, but you can use the glass one for everything else

  4. riss

I’m assuming the glass lid can be use on all other functions of instant pot except pressure-cooking?

    • heather

Correct-not for use during pressure cooking-for the other functions, like yogurt, slow cook, etc.

  5. S

Do others use the top that comes with the insta pot for slow cooking and then just put it on vent? I haven’t used it to slow cook yet? If so, is this lid necessary? Thanks for your help!

    • Bebe

No, this lid isn’t necessary. The Instant Pot is designed to use all functions as-is. This lid just allows you to see what is going on in the pot when slow-cooking or sautéing. Hope this helps!

        Thank you!

    I need a pot

  7. BrBa

This glass lid is NOT for pressure cooking! It’s only for the other functions of the IP- like slow cooking and Sauté mode. And no, it isn’t *necessary* but it’s definitely very useful, since you can see your food as it cooks and when you’re serving it!

I only use 2 buttons on my pot. Manuel or Pressure and Yogurt. I never use the others and I use multiple instant pots almost daily.

I have had 4 different Instant Pots. I bought one, tried to use it as a slow cooker, and it was awful and undercooked after 10 hours. I thought it was a defect, so I traded it in for a new one. Same thing. I lost that one in the flood, so I bought a replacement. Same Duo 8qt but newer version of it. Still cannot slow cook in it. My sister gave me her brand new Duo 8qt that she received as a gift and didn’t want, since I am the one who does the holidays and parties, I could use both. The newest one still cannot slow cook food. I don’t know why and hope it isn’t a user error, but I looked online and saw that many others had the same issue…something about the temperature being unable to get to where it needs to be to properly slow cook.

    • Lisa

Same here, as well as my friend too. We just transferred it to our regular slow cookers. I personally think it’s because the heat only comes from the bottom & depending on how much food is in it it needs more heat. I also started it on low bc my slow cooker can boil stuff in an hour.
