Pillsbury Recalls Almost 37,000 Bags of Bread Flour Over E. coli Concerns
Pillsbury has issued a voluntary recall for nearly 37,000 bags of their 5lb Enriched Bread Flour bags over potential E. coli bacteria contamination.
There have been no illnesses linked to Pillsbury Flour yet, but the wheat used in these select bags has been linked to the multi-state E. coli outbreak that also prompted the recall of King Arthur Flour and ALDI’s Bakers Corner flour.
To date, there have been 17 reported E. coli cases caused by this wheat crop across eight states, including Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Virginia.
Check your cabinets for Pillsbury Bread Flour varieties that have the UPC code “051500200315” with the lot code 8 342 or 8 345 and expiration dates of June 8 or June 9, 2020. You can find this information under the nutrition facts.
If you have purchased one of the above products, DO NOT consume them. DO return them to the store for a full refund or replacement. Hometown Foods is available daily from 9am to 9pm CST for questions at 1-866-219-9333. You can also contact that number for a replacement coupon if you have one of the affected bags.
So glad Iām too frugal to buy name brand (unless of course it is a better deal than the generic!)
