Hip Readers love their AARP membership benefits!

We joined AARP last year simply because we get a discount through our cell phone provider, AT&T. I believe it waives our upgrade fees + gives us $10 off per line/month. It was well worth it for that alone to sign up.

We also have been getting the $10/month credit on our AT&T cell phone account for a few years now. $120 off a year on a cell phone bill is certainly worth the cost of an AARP membership. I do use the coupons/discounts at Walgreens and occasionally use the discount for hotel rooms.

We signed up a few months ago too! You can buy gift cards at a discount on their website… we were specifically interested in the discounted Carnival cards! 🤗

On the first Tuesday of each month, Walgreens offers 20% off of any non-sale item. It’s available to seniors and anyone holding an AARP membership. I’ve been able to combine this 20% off with the dollar value coupons (for example the $7 off $25).

Do we have to sign up for a 5 year renewal and pay the $63 today? I’m confused. (I am already a member and would like to renew)

    • Haley

Never mind, I think I got it now. I had to cancel my already existing renewal in order to add this to my account. Thanks for the great deal!

      • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

You’re welcome, Haley! 💗 Thanks so much for this update. I bet this will be helpful for any others that are looking to renew as well. 🙌

        • carol K

Can it be cancelled after the first year or are you obligated to renew?
          Anyone know?
          Thank you

I did find this in the details if helpful – 💗 Cancel anytime.

  2. Sue

How do you get a free book?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Sue! Here’s what I found for you on that! 🥰
“AARP sometimes offers serialized versions of books by popular authors like James Patterson and Mary Higgins Clark as part of its Member’s Edition series. These can often be accessed digitally for free.

Additionally, AARP members receive discounts on select books and guides through the AARP Bookstore. If you’re looking for these offers, visit the books and resources section. Membership benefits might include more specific promotions or free book options depending on current campaigns.”
