I have no idea why I never knew about this type of fan – but it is solving all my HOT weather probs in AZ and I’m sooooo happy about it! This tower fan is very intuitive to use right out of the box. There’s a tank, there are ice packs, it’s as easy as that. The tank is easy to take in and out of the fan and so are the ice packs. You do have to be careful not to tip over the fan because, of course, electricity + water, but when you want this thing to last forever as I do, you’re sure to be careful.

Where I live, humidity is what causes us to be so hot so a device that ADDS water to the air would be disasterous and be a mold factory.
I can see this working if you lived in a very dry climate, but beware of it creating a haven for mold.
We use dehumidifiers to help keep cool.

These are great for desert climates (hot dry heat). I don’t think they use them in humid areas.

Correct. Evaporative cooling effectiveness depends on the current air humidity. If you live in a humid area, this will not work when humidity levels are high.
