I Wore a $39 Smart Ring Next to My $350 Oura Ring… and the Results Shocked Me
Here’s my honest take after wearing both the Oura Ring and this budget-friendly Amazon smart ring side by side.
Looking to save money on a smart ring? Here’s how!
I’ve been wearing a $350 Oura Ring for a couple of years, so I was curious to see if a much more affordable $39.99 Smart Ring from Amazon could keep up.
I expected a huge difference, but I was genuinely surprised by how similar the results were.

For everyday health tracking, the Amazon Ring has held its own and delivers impressive value for a fraction of the price. My daily step count, resting heart rate, sleep duration, and overall activity levels have been remarkably similar to the data collected by my Oura Ring. Plus, the QRing app is visually pretty similar to Oura and is very easy to connect to and navigate.
- Mirlray Smart Ring Health Tracker from $39.99

Amazon Smart Ring Pros:
- Tracks sleep, steps, heart rate, and activity surprisingly accurately.
- My daily stats were very similar to those reported by my Oura Ring.
- No monthly subscription fee compared to the Oura app of $5.99 a month.
- Comfortable to wear and easy to set up.
- Costs significantly less than an Oura Ring, making it a great budget-friendly option.
Oura Ring Advantages:
- More advanced health insights, including recovery, readiness, stress, and long-term wellness trends.
- Manually add workouts after they happen. Automatically detect many workouts and ask you to confirm them.
- More polished app with deeper data analysis and personalized recommendations.
- Better battery life, lasting about 5–7 days compared to roughly 3 days on the Amazon Ring.

Final Thoughts
If you simply want an affordable smart ring to track basics like sleep, heart rate, steps, and daily activity, this Amazon version is a nice value. After comparing them side by side, I was honestly impressed by how closely the basic tracking matched my Oura Ring.
The Mirlray ring is much more basic. it’s designed primarily as a 24/7 health tracker rather than a fitness tracker. It continuously monitors your heart rate and movement throughout the day. When it detects sustained activity (such as walking or running), it automatically records it. You cannot add in your various workouts and activities like you can with the Oura app.
Unless you need all of Oura’s premium insights, the budget-friendly option is a fantastic alternative that saves you a lot of money.
My teen daughter has been wanting a smart ring, so this will be a great one for her to try out affordably! I love that there is no subscription!

The wording on this is confusing – it’s not an “Amazon smart ring,” it’s a smart ring available on Amazon, and just one of many. I would buy an Amazon branded ring, but would not give my health info over to some random brand.
Thanks for the feedback! So sorry for any confusion. We’ve updated the wording. 🤗
But you will give it to Amazon? 😆
Thank you! I have been waiting for your review. My Fitbit is on it’s last legs and was looking to maybe replace it with this ring after you first posted it. I am less worried about giving this company my basic info than Amazon. Amazon already has tracked so much about us.
Thanks ac gold! I appreciate your kind comment! This highly rated ring is a nice value for basic health tracking imo 👌
y’all playing yourselves…if you have a smart phone you are already being tracked, if you have a newer modle car, especially if it has Onstar or Satellite Radio you a being tracked…smh
I’ve been waiting for your review! Thanks Lina, I got one as a present to myself for my bday tomorrow!
I’ve worn a Fitbit since 2015 and looking to try something new.
Oh, happy birthday, Kelli! I hope you enjoy!
Don’t count RingConn out – it is more expenisve but also tracks sleep apenia with no monthly subscription and the battery life is AMAZING!
Thanks for sharing, Karen!
This is the one that I’ve been eyeing and I’m hoping they have a good sale coming into the holidays. Wink, Wink HIP2SAVE 😅😉❤️
Thanks for the request! I’ll pass this along to the team to keep watch for! 🤗
Does this Amazon version require a subscription? Is the app free?
Nope. The app is free and no subscription. Thanks MaryAnn!
Ordered one – thanks Lina!
Oh good! Thanks for stopping by Gail, and enjoy your smart ring!
Am I blind or is there no option for 8 or 9?
Darn. I’m not seeing that size at the moment either, Lyndi. You might check back soon for a possible restock! 🤞
If I click on the size 9, it comes up in silver. It’s about $5 more, but it’s there if that helps.
Thank you! Ordered it!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Arggghh☹️ I have teeny tiny fingers and I can only wear a 5 five on my middle finger and the rest are kind of 4s to fives. Nothing comes in that unfortunately. Not even the oura. I need like a kids one 😆
Let me know if anyone finds one! Definitely prefer a lower cost option than oura🤞👍
Hoping they might have smaller sizes available soon! We’ll keep an eye out! 👀
Thank you!
You bet!
Ordered one! Can you recommend a cover that would fit this?
Hi Christel! It seems these covers are compatible with this ring. Hope this helps!
Thank you, I ordered them.
You’re welcome, Christel! Hope you love them! ❣️
I ordered and received it over the weekend. It works great and way more comfortable than sleeping with a smartwatch on for tracking sleep. I didn’t know covers existed, but just ordered the ones Trish recommended.
Yay! Thanks so much for the helpful update, Deedee! Glad to hear how well it is working for you!
Does it count steps by arm movements like fitbit or actual steps and if so how?
Great question! I did grab these details for you! – “The Mirlray Smart Ring tracks your steps using built-in motion sensors that detect movement patterns throughout the day. The ring continuously monitors your wrist motion and translates that data into step counts, displaying the information in the companion mobile app.”
I have never been sized for an Oura or an other type of smart ring. Any guidance on how to determine my size?
Hi Kay! When you scroll down the product page a bit there are a couple of charts and sizing instructions on picking the best size! ❤️🙌
Thanks Lina, I got one!
Oh good Julie!! Hope you enjoy your ring! Thanks for stopping by 💕
I just got mine yesterday…so far so good. I’ve never owned an Oura…so have nothing to compare it too. But, I am curious…I work out at a fitness place every morning for a 40 minute class. I”m not seeing on the app where I can log this or it tracks it. When I go to sports section…it doesn’t list cross training.
Thanks for sharing, Susan! 💕 I checked with Lina, and she shared that the Mirlray ring is more of a basic 24/7 health tracker than a fitness tracker. It automatically detects and records some sustained activities, like walking or running, but it doesn’t currently let you log or track a wide variety of workout types like cross training. Hope that helps!
If you go to Sport Mode and press Go!, there are like 100 activities you can track.
Super helpful, Christel! Thanks for sharing!
For those of you with a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), an Oura Ring may be an eligible purchase, depending on your plan. It’s on my wish list if I have FSA funds left to use after covering other medical expenses before the end of the year!
Thanks for the tip! Great to look into!
How is the battery life and the customer service?
Not sure on customer service….but I’ve had my ring since Monday..(its now thursday) and its at 72%. So…I’d say so far…excellent. HTH.
Yay! Thank you so much for the helpful comment! Glad the battery is keeping a good charge!
Thank you!
Thank you I was waiting for Oura to lower their price but didn’t happen so I order this one found the silver one on size 9 , thanks for sharing! I do have the Apple Watch but I really don’t like to wear it when I sleep or when I’m am in the pool so this is a very good alternative. Thanks for sharing!
You’re most welcome. Lullu! So glad you could snag this ring as an alternative to wear when you don’t have your Apple watch on. Hoping you love it! 🥰
How long does the ring keep working? I loved the Qring app, but after several months the ring I had stopped charging. Any experience with how long the ring itself lasts?
Thanks for sharing your experience, Ellen, and sorry to hear about your previous ring. 💕 Lina wore this one for about 3 to 4 weeks to compare it with the Oura Ring, so we can’t really comment on its long-term durability just yet. It does have quite a few positive reviews, though. We’d love to hear from readers who’ve owned theirs longer!
