I’ll admit I’m a little bit picky when it comes to these things because I mainly draw with a Wacom Intuos and I’m spoiled by that. I was worried that this was an overpriced Apple product, but to be honest, it’s pretty decent especially considering how early this specific model is.
The pen nibs are a good value (seems to be comparable to my Wacom’s), they wear down WAY LESS than Wacom’s (this is a good thing), and the Pencil has some awesome drawing capabilities. The sensitivity is great, I appreciate the pressure application, and when “smudging” the side of the pencil to the tablet it creates realistic smudged doodles. It’s a wonderful little touch that makes me forget I’m not using a pencil and paper.
In short, while Wacom products will always be the staple of my household, I do really love drawing with my Apple Pencil and iPad. I’m not missing ANYTHING by using these over my desktop setup. I’m pleasantly surprised by this experience because in all honesty Apple can be overpriced and overrated. This, however, is a rare exception! I’m a fan.
