We’ve compiled a list of the best baby shower gifts and baby shower gift ideas for moms too!
Get a new mama something she actually wants. ❤️
While every woman’s journey into motherhood is different and unique, we found lots of us benefitted from many of the same gifts. So if you’re looking for the perfect baby shower gift ideas look no further! Moms shared their favorite baby shower gifts that they actually wanted and used the most!
First and foremost, just having someone who checks in and shows that they care is a gift of its own for new moms.
Never underestimate the power of a friend. Becoming a new mom has many emotions for every woman. It is reported that 15% of new moms experience Postpartum depression which can start developing anywhere from 1 week to 1 month after delivery. When they say, “It takes a village”, I’m a first-hand believer that the village starts with mom – we can’t do this alone, ladies.
Learning how to help someone with postpartum depression or seeking help if you think you’re experiencing postpartum depression can change lives. To find a local support group, head to DBSalliance.org.
And if you’re a momma who is out there struggling please know we see you, we hear you, we love you, & it’s okay to ask for help. ❤️
“It’s been a long time since I had a newborn but I do recall wanting someone to ask me how I was doing, how I felt, if I needed anything, etc. Not just asking about the baby. I had PPD (I didn’t realize it until weeks later) and just really needed a friend.” – Cecilia, Hip2Save reader
Here’s something one of my Hip sidekick’s sisters suggests to combat PPD:
“Both my sister and sister-in-law had their placentas dried out and ground up into capsules. They took it in capsule form (or as a tea), but they both swore by this for easing postpartum symptoms.” – Angie, Hip2Save sidekick
Here’s our list of the best baby shower gift ideas according to seasoned moms:
1. An ergonomic nursing pillow takes the weight off a mom’s shoulders and arms during feedings.
Boppy Original Nursing Pillow – $44.99
You don’t need to be a nursing mama to benefit from the perks of a nursing pillow. It’s not only a place to rest your arms while nursing your sweet babe but also whenever you need some relief while holding them in your arms. Plus, it even provides extra support for little helpers when they want turns to hold the baby. Better yet, they’re machine washable for longevity.
We also love the My Brest Friend pillow because it has a buckle strap to allow for more security and mobility, as well as padding in the back to provide comfortable back support. Plus, there’s even a small pocket for your nursing pads, phone, pacifiers, etc. They even have a twin My Brest Friend if you’re expecting a dynamic duo.
2. Silicone bibs are reusable meal after meal & incredibly easy to keep clean.
Mushie Silicone Bib – $12.99
Before you know it, every new mom’s baby will be eating solid foods, which means she needs to be prepared for many more messes to come. Silicone bibs with pockets catch all the mess, are comfortable to wear, and even have adjustable notches in the back for the perfect fit. Plus, they’re incredibly easy to keep clean (even top-rack dishwasher safe), reusable meal after meal, and easy to take with you on the go!
3. A silicone self-feeder keeps them occupied and is great for teething babies.
OXO TOT Silicone Self Feeder, 2-Pack – $18.99 ($9.50 each)
Speaking of eating, your little one will love having the ability to feed themselves safely with a silicone self-feeder. It’ll save you time feeding them while you’ve got your hands full or if you’re dealing with a fussy baby while on the go. Not only that but when you freeze them, they work exceptionally well for teething babies!
4. Useful burp cloths will save you from having to do extra laundry.
Green Sprouts Muslin Burp Cloths, 3-pack – $26.99 ($9 each)
Burp cloths are a must for new moms so they can protect their clothes from spit-ups and drooling after feedings. These will be especially helpful before they head out with intentions to look put together.
5. Every mom’s breast-pumping journey will be so much easier with a hands-free breast pump.
Willow Breast Pump – $412.49 (regularly $549.99)
Times have changed! If the mom you’re shopping for plans to pump breast milk at any point, a breast pump can practically become a new part of her body. You might as well make it an experience that’s as easy and comfortable for you as possible! No pumping journey is easy, but the ability to score a hands-free breast pump will leave you almost forgetting you’re even doing it, which is even more ideal for women heading back to work who prefer to remain discreet.
6. Prop your baby in a functional and versatile seat whenever you need free hands.
Fisher-Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat – $42.99
Whether it’ll be used as a play area, a place to feed your baby, or simply a space you can set them down to take a load off your arms, having a versatile seat that can pull double-duty in a plethora of ways will be a lifesaver on a daily basis!
7. Dress your new baby in some functional sleepers to make changing hassle-free.
Zipper Sleeper 3-Packs – $14+
While dressing your new baby to the nines is going to be tempting at all times, trust me when I say your life will be so much easier when you dress them in something much more functional. Especially when it comes to all those midnight-changing sessions. Ideally, look for knotted nightgowns, zipper sleepers, or open-bottom gowns when shopping for your baby shower gift ideas. Bonus points if they have built-in mittens to keep your little one from inadvertently scratching their face too.
8. A swaddle or sleepsack mimics the womb and makes your baby feel cozier than ever.
The Original Woombie – $34.99
A swaddle or sleep sack is essentially a way to mimic the womb and make your baby feel secure. Plus, most babies love them (especially when sleeping) so they’ll be a great baby shower gift idea! They’re also great for helping keep your baby from scratching themselves while just lounging around their crib.
9. New moms can have eyes and ears on their new baby at all times with a baby monitor which makes for great group baby shower gift ideas too.
Infant Optics DXR-8 Video Baby Monitor – $165.99
A reliable baby monitor ensures you’re able to safely and securely keep an eye on your baby during nap time, overnight, or any time you need to step away for a moment. There are a lot of baby monitors on the market with different features, including breathing monitoring, Wi-Fi capabilities, and apps that monitor babies using only your existing devices, like your phone, tablet, or even computer!
As another idea, check out this under $50 VTech Baby Monitor – simplicity at its finest. It’s a great option if you’re gifting a baby monitor on your own. This back-to-basics monitor comes with 2 parent units and even has a nightlight that can be remotely shut off.
10. Buy Mom a good jogging stroller that can easily handle every terrain, no matter where she goes.
Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 All-Terrain Stroller – $299.99 (regularly $399.99)
Strollers are a pretty big ask for a baby shower gift, but it’s something a new mom will use often. A nice jogging stroller will handle every terrain perfectly! Plus, if she keeps it in great condition, she can likely resell it for some extra cash. The Baby Jogger shown above is a great affordable stroller that is also super compact so it’s ideal for even city dwellers with small spaces.

11. The Mommy hook is like having a third and fourth hand at all times.
Strong and durable, this hook is functional for even people who aren’t parents! Simply clip it on your grocery cart, or stroller, or load up all your shopping bags in one convenient place. This hook will be a third hand to have around at all times! Considering the amount of stuff mom will be toting around after she gives birth, she’ll really appreciate this baby shower gift.
12. A car seat cover will keep your baby safe from the elements while traveling around.
The mom you’re shopping for will really appreciate this car seat cover when the weather gets chilly. It will keep the baby cozy and safe from the elements and was one of my personal favorite baby shower gifts that I received!
Need something lightweight for warmer weather?
Parker Baby 4 in 1 Car Seat Cover – $23.95
This stretchy cover is versatile and perfect for year-round use. It can be used as a nursing cover, grocery cart cover, or even a high chair cover too.
13. Carrying a backpack diaper bag around will keep you hands-free when on the go.
MF Leather Backpack Diaper Bag – $59.99
Heading out for the day with a baby can often feel like packing for an extended weekend trip. That’s why gifting a fashionable diaper bag for Mom to keep all her essentials organized, her arms comfortable, and her hands totally free is crucial to successful outings. Plus, if Mom already has a toddler running around, she’s going to need both hands at all times anyway.
14. Wearing a breathable baby carrier will be comfortable for Mom and her baby.
LÍLLÉbaby Complete All Seasons Six-Position Baby Carrier – $95.99 (regularly $99+)
Make sure to consider this baby shower gift idea if you know Mom will be looking to soak up those newborn snuggles at all times once the baby arrives. You’ll be able to go about your day without any interruptions and keep your baby close and cozy at all times.
Plus, there’s no mama out there who didn’t say they love having a snuggly little baby head on their chest to kiss and smell whenever they please. We love the LÍLLÉbaby carrier because you can wear it in 6 different positions for 360-degree babywearing and it’s suitable from 7-45 lbs.
15. This gaspasser will help relieve gas and colic issues and keep mom’s sanity.
Windi Gas and Colic Reliever for Babies (10 Count) by Frida Baby – $12.74 (regularly $12.99)
Since babies obviously can’t verbally communicate when they aren’t feeling well, trying to resolve a colic baby’s discomfort can be scary and frustrating. Invented by a pediatric gastroenterologist, Windi the Gasspasser is designed as an instant, natural, and safe relief treatment for colic babies that may have issues passing gas.
16. Plain-colored onesies might seem like boring baby shower gift ideas but will be something a new mom will use often.
Gerber Baby 3pk Long Sleeve Onesies – $6.40 (regularly $8)
When it comes to baby must-haves, any seasoned parent will tell you some plain-colored onesies or bodysuits will be a total lifesaver! From using them as layering pieces, for bedtime, or something simple on the hottest summer days, you can never go wrong with stashing these away in the nursery or your new diaper bag.
17. Many seasoned moms said they wouldn’t have survived without a Wubbanub pacifier.
Wubbanub Pacifier – $13.99+
So many new moms swear by Wabbanub pacifiers! These are going to be the best baby shower gifts and she’ll likely use them daily if you know whether she plans on introducing a pacifier to help soothe her little one! Not only do they come in many different types of stuffed animals, but they’re incredibly cute and practical for getting your new baby to take to a pacifier with ease.
18. When the baby has a clogged nose, the Fridababy nose sucker will be everything so it’s definitely at the top of the list for best baby shower gifts.
Fridababy Baby Nasal Aspirator – $20.99
Something a new mom may not think about before her new baby is here is the fact she’ll have to help with boogies. Since babies can’t blow their noses on their own, having an extremely effective way to get rid of their snot will make everyone happier during tough, sick days. And if you were wondering, yes, it’s completely sanitary too. 😂
Here are a few baby shower gift ideas if tending to mom is your top priority:
19. Period panties are just what new moms don’t know they need while in post-partum recovery.
INNERSY Postpartum Maternity Panties, 3-Pack – $25.99 ($8.66 each)

I personally own their low-rise hipsters to wear in conjunction with my menstrual cup so they’re even useful after postpartum is long over. They’d definitely be ideal for any momma who recently had a c-section too.
As another idea, consider the affordable Thinx period panties at Walmart. While I didn’t test them after having a baby, I’ve used them every month during my heaviest days and can confidently say they’d be a great companion for any new recovering mom.
They’re mid-rise, have full booty coverage, and can absorb as much liquid as 5 tampons, 2.5 pads, or 1.5 menstrual cups. They also come in a wide range of sizes from XS to 4X.
No matter which period panties you get, they’ll be the perfect companion for new moms to feel more secure and comfortable – giving them the peace of mind they need!
20. Nursing bras and tank tops are the best baby shower gifts for moms who plan to breastfeed.
iloveSIA Nursing Maternity Bras, 3-Pack – $29.99 ($10 each)
Speaking from experience, nursing bras make all the difference in the world. Plus, chances are you won’t fit into your old bras anyways, but even if you do, folding them down and avoid them from getting milk all over them is a struggle and certainly not ideal. It’s all about comfort, support, coverage, and ease nowadays. So don’t forget to grab a few nursing bras to help make life easier and comfier for a new mom while on a breastfeeding or pumping journey.
If you want to invest in some award-winning nursing bras, check out Bravado!
“I don’t think the younger generation realizes how necessary nursing bras are! I had my daughter last year at age 28 and I thought I didn’t need a nursing bra – I’ll just fold down my regular bra. NOPE! Amazon has a great selection.” – Lauren, Hip2Save reader
Or consider a nursing tank that could be worn as a bra too.
BRLIDO Nursing Tank, 3-Pack – $29.99+ ($10 each)
A nursing tank top will not only provide the same benefits as a nursing bra, but you’ll also be able to easily layer it with your favorite cozy sweater, wear it on its own, and get added coverage for your postpartum belly. Best of all, you can wear them pregnant too.
“Nursing tank tops were my best friend. They’re easy to access and they didn’t make me feel like I was exposing my belly.” – Shannon, Hip2Save reader
21. Nursing pads are great baby shower gift ideas for Mom – whether she plans to nurse or not.
Some women experience very minimal leaking when nursing or pumping while others can’t even get through a grocery store trip without their milk ducts leaking like a fire hose. (Again, speaking from experience here, friends 🤣). However, these will certainly come in handy for any new mom whether she plans to nurse or not. I personally found Medela pads to be the most absorbent and really loved them during my nursing years.
If you’d like something more Earth-friendly, Amazon also offers many highly-rated reusable breast pads too.
“Pads for inside the bra for those sudden baby crying in the store leaks. LOL!” – Melanie, Hip2Save reader

Our Hip sidekick, Soleil, recently scooped up this stunner for her maternity photos so it’s a trendy and beautiful dress we’d recommend considering for a special baby shower gift. You could even go all out and consider gifting it with a gift card for a photo session with a local photographer too. What’s funny is that this dress isn’t actually maternity, but Soleil said it accommodated her growing bump, is comfortable and flowy, and with the low v-neck it’ll be easy for nursing after the baby is here too.

After the arrival of your newborn, no matter how they got here, every new mom deserves to indulge in a delicious meal. I know I literally couldn’t wait to get my hands on a juicy burger! So, ask your friend what they want their first meal to be and treat her to something delicious or order from one of the best food delivery services if you don’t plan to make it to the hospital.
Speaking of meals, you could also consider prepping some yummy meals for more personal baby shower gift ideas!
There’s no family with a new baby that won’t appreciate some prepped meals. Even if you’re giving this gift to yourself, it’s something you’ll appreciate having in the freezer for those sleepless days and nights…and we suspect there will be plenty more where that came from so the more meals, the merrier!
Check out the best food delivery services to make future dinners a breeze!
“I really regret not making premade meals. It’s exhausting taking care of a newborn baby and older kids especially when hubby can’t cook to save his life. LOL! It would be so much easier to just pull out a prepared meal, heat it up, and serve!” – Siobhan, Hip2Save reader

Looking for more baby shower gift ideas? Seasoned mom also shared all their top baby registry must-haves!
I love this list! The period undwear is fantastic, and will last much longer than postpartum! One idea for the plain onsies we did at a shower: the dads watched the older siblings/cousins, etc, and had the kids use fabric markers on the plain white onsies to make decorated shirts for the new baby. They were fun and cute, and all of the kids liked to see the baby wear the one they made.
So glad you enjoyed this list, Corey! 🤗 Such a fun idea to let the older kids decorate onesies with fabric markers! I love that! Thanks for sharing! 🥰 ❤️
