“This bag is cute and holds lots of stuff for travel, including my laptop. My daughter uses it for sleepovers, and my sister-in-law has one she uses as a diaper bag! It’s very nice quality and opens all the way at the top to see everything easily.” – Lina
6. I can’t get enough of my Wonhox backpack.
Best overall value.
Wonhox Large Travel Backpack Women
With this backpack, you can probably do more than carry-on luggage! It counts as a personal item, fitting under the seat in front of you, and has a ton of space. Thanks to this backpack, I have ditched carry-on fees, and I probably fit more in this backpack than in my suitcase. I recommend it to everyone!

Packing cubes make everything easier. This option actually comes with three to help you stay as organized as possible. Travel & Leisure mentions how great the compression is, making this bag incredibly spacious.
8. When it comes to a travel backpack for women, the Kaya bag is our go-to.
Best option for women.
Kaya Laptop Backpack
This durable bag is perfect for any light packers. It’s not going to replace an entire carry-on suitcase, but it is the perfect size for typical traveling. Although it’s on the pricier side, our Hip sidekick Emily actually scored this on sale for just $75; if it’s on sale, it’s totally worth scoring.
“I have the Calpak Kaya backpack, and it’s my go-to airplane bag! It’s not really big, but it fits my 15” MacBook pro, plus my iPad, with separate compartments for each. It also fits my chargers, AirPods, and some bags of snacks… but then that’s really it.
It helps me keep my traveling load low because there’s just enough room for those essentials. I’ve had it for nearly 5 years now, brought it on loads of trips, and it’s holding up great.” – Emily
9. Pack Hacker loves how easily accessible the Thule Subterra Backpack is!
Most accessible option.
Thule Subterra Backpack 34L
It’s the worst when you need to grab something at the airport that’s all the way at the bottom of your bag. With this Thule option, the zippers are on the sides of the bag, meaning you can open it similarly to a suitcase and grab whatever you, please! This bag is fairly pricey. However, it does have a 4.7-star review.
10. Troubadour backpacks come with an extended warranty.
Best splurge-worthy pick.
My Hip sidekick Ani has this bag, and she totally deemed it splurge-worthy! These high-quality bags have a 3D pocket on the top to easily access essentials on top of being incredibly roomy. Since it is a big splurge, you can rest assured knowing that these bags come with a five-year warranty.
Check out the best travel accessories, too!
My whole family uses backpacks similar to number 6. We fly a lot and my 9 and 7 year old can fit iPads, a stuffed animal, and even a few days of clothes when we’re traveling light. There are pockets for everything so it’s easy to be organized and they fit on a suitcase easily. After 3 trips to Europe with these backpacks, I would consider them a must have for travel.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on the backpacks you have that are similar, Hartsell! Good to know they have a lot of storage and even ideal for overseas travel! 🙌💓
I’ve had the leke sky bag for years. I love the versatility. I use it as my to and from work bag. I carry a gallon of alkaline water in it and my coffee travel mug and water bug with room to spare!
Yay! Happy that one has been a favorite for so long! Thanks for letting us know how useful it hsa been! 💖🙌
