refilling a bottle at The Body Shop

In 2021, The Body Shop announced a five-year plan to reduce the use of plastic and become a more sustainable business. Part of the company’s plan included the addition of product refill stations to the majority of its stores around the world.

Since April of 2021, The Body Shop has established refill stations in 400 stores globally, saving a total of over 3.7 tons of plastic.

The refill program is now underway in the United States, with a goal of having 49% of all US stores equipped with refill stations by the end of 2022. The 400 additional refill stations planned for this year are expected to save an added 25 tons of plastic.

How does The Body Shop’s refill program work?

The Body Shop’s in-store refill stations allow customers to get more of their favorite body, hair, and hand care products without generating more waste.

Refillable products will include some of the store’s most popular items, including shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, and hand washes. The selection will vary from six to twelve available products, depending on the size of the store.

Refilling your favorite products at The Body Shop is easy!

You can get started by purchasing one of the retailer’s refillable aluminum bottles at a store where refills are offered. Then, ask an employee to fill it up with your favorite product and head to the register to check out.

Once you’ve used all the product in your bottle, just rinse it out, let it dry, and bring it back in for another refill!

How much is the refill? Still the same as buying new or is there a discount?

The refills are a little bit cheaper, Emily! Check out the bottom of the post where we have some listed.❤

LOVE this! It’s these small steps, decisions made easy/economical that help us all move forward. I’ve been refilling my BBW foaming bottles with Mrs Meyers using the “recipe” shared here on H2S. Haven’t bought a plastic bottle in 4 years.
