I was a little hesitant to order using DoorDash for the first time. I kept thinking that my food would arrive cold, or my drinks would be spilled, but I was pleasantly surprised when everything was sealed in a to-go bag, with a sticker on top letting me know it was sealed by the restaurant. My drinks were in a carrier, with no spill in sight. It was so nice to be able to order when I was feeling under the weather and didn’t want to cook! Plus, when ordering in the app it gave me estimated wait times so I knew when to expect my food. Then, once the dasher had picked up my order, I could see exactly where they were and how long it would take for the food to arrive! – Hip Sidekick, Chelsey
We tried all the food delivery services – here’s what we thought!
I use DoorDash more than I’d like to admit and the service is pretty bad. Like, I’m embarrassed to admit to people that I still use it because it’s so bad. I’ve gotten LOTS of orders with missing items, hardly ever get the drinks that were supposed to be with an order (I won’t order drinks at all now except if it comes with it in a combo or something), and it’s almost always cold because I watch them delivering two or three other orders on their way from picking mine up at the restaurant. So, yeah, I don’t really know. It’s convenient and sometimes I just accept that there’s going to be an issue and hope it’s not too big of one.
Oh, and there was the night that a driver forgot to leave my drink with the order (which I hadn’t even noticed yet) and came back 10 minutes later with it. Without notifying me that they were coming back. Their drivers DO NOT COMMUNICATE. It was like 10pm, I’d turned off my outside light after the food was delivered, and there’s banging on my door. Pounding as if they were going to break it down. I wasn’t going to go answer a dark door at 10pm when I wasn’t expecting anyone. They stood there for like 15 minutes banging on my door and then waiting, banging then waiting. I almost called the police because I was getting freaked out. I finally heard the person leave, calmed down, and eventually went to bed. My frozen solid drink was sitting on the steps when I went to work the next morning. They could have sent a text saying they were coming back with my missing drink!!! Instead, I was terrified because someone I didn’t know was pounding on my door late at night. Wow, I really should stop using them. Wish more places in my area actually had their own delivery!!
SO sorry to hear about that. ❤️ Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. I also use DoorDash often. I haven’t had any issues so far. It may vary by the driver or even the location you order from. Hoping your next deliveries are stress free! 💖🤗
what is that drink in the photo? looks yummy
Hey there! That is a pink drink with chocolate cold foam. Cam, our Hip sidekick, taste-tested it close to Valentine’s Day when it seemed to be popular. Several readers said it had the taste of a chocolate-covered strawberry. Hoping that’s helpful! 🍫🍓
If you could hook a girl up with how to order the keto version of this I’d be so thankful lol
Hey tt! I’ll be sure to pass along your request to the team! In the mean-time, you might check out this post from Hip2Keto about popular keto-friendly Starbucks drinks, as we share the keto-friendly directions for a pink drink there! ❤️
We have $14 in credit left from a gift card from our kids and then we are finished forever with Door dash. Enough is enough!
Don’t know why anyone who uses these delivery services. We tried door dash once and they added taxes and fees totally over $10 for a couple burritos! We don’t even have sales tax here in OR so it must be a scam. Unaffordable. Just get off your couch.
Wow is all I can say making the assumption people use it because they are too lazy to go get their own food – not that it should really matter to you what other’s do. I used it all the time when I broke my foot and couldn’t drive, I use it to send hot meals to my mother who lives alone in another city, I use it to send food to sick friends who aren’t able to cook, etc. I find it very convenient and not unaffordable at all.
You knew what it cost BEFORE you placed the order, so why complain about what you paid?
You could have just not ordered, and got up off your couch.
The only reason we used Doordash was to use a $25 gift card given to us that covered some of it. Otherwise , never. Unless was absolutely necessary, wouldn’t waste $. And huge turn off with all the taxes and fees.
Why are people complaining on here? Take it up with DoorDash or simply don’t use it. It’s that simple. No need to call others that use it lazy. Jeez
My oldest uses Doordash weekly. Last week he ordered a case of cheese Krystals with a drink. They arrived and he offered us all one. They tasted rancid and nasty. Doordash didn!t offer any help. We trash the case!! First time he has ever had problems with them.
SO sorry to hear they were bad. Thanks for letting us know about your order experience. Hoping your next order is more successful if you decide to try again. ❤️🤗
Coupon would be good, but all the extra fees and up charges you save nothing.
I used to be lazy so I get delivery, not anymore after so many horrible experiences with delivery that I just pick up my own food. It tastes much better than when they deliver to you. Idk what the driver does to the food but never again lol
Doordash doesn’t have the best service, but a lot of these complaints have nothing to do with them. They pick up and deliver the food. They don’t cook it, don’t control how it tastes, and don’t package it incorrectly. The drink issue is valid because the driver sometimes doesn’t bother to look if there is more than just the main bag. To make sure my food is hot (-ish), I order at nearby restaurants. Doordash only charges whatever your local taxes on prepared food are, so you are paying the same if you pick it up yourself. The fees are what they are – it’s a service so they’re going to charge something, and then you tip the driver, which is fair.
Calling people lazy is ableist – you don’t know what anyone else’s life is like.
I wish we had an Aldi. the closest one is a 2 hour drive one way. I do go at Christmas unless I am visiting family so I can stock up on German goodies. I grew up shopping at Aldi with my mom and grandma in the 70s. Love it.
Living in the country I never get food delivered. I am glad after I hear all the horror stories.
