I decided to replace my old SodaStream with one of these, and I wish it had been my first choice because, in stark contrast to the SodaStream, this actually works. You can achieve a decent level of carbonation with this machine, AND it will carbonate virtually any liquid you can pour into the bottle.
I’ve carbonated liquid jello with this, and yes, it’s a little tingly on the tongue when it sets up. Milk, juice, coffee, tea… anything. I love this thing. You can use your SodaStream gas canisters, drink mixes, and flavor drops with this, but not their bottles.
Love this. Got this brand to replace a prior home carbonator machine that broke. After using home carbonators for a few years this is what I love so much about this one – (1) doesn’t need to be plugged in and doesn’t run on batteries. You add the carbonation just by pushing down on the button. (2) you can carbonate a variety of liquids and are not limited to just water. (3) CO2 refills compatible with other brands so the refillable CO2 bottles that I had from my prior machine can still be used on this. Fantastic!
Before spending $100, look on Facebook marketplace for someone selling their Sodastream machine. There were a lot of people selling them in my area – I bought one for $10, it had an empty CO2 canister that I was able to trade-in at my local CVS for a new one for $15, and I was good to go. I use it all the time.
