The unit I received was in perfect order and began to chill immediately, I must admit a bit of nostalgia here, I love the retro, and actually go back to a time when refrigerators looked like this, it’s a functional and adorable little unit, I would consider it an actual conversation piece as it does draw attention by friends and guests.
Something to consider is that in these refrigerators there are no motors or compressors – meaning no freon and no CFCs are used. The only moving parts are the fans, that’s it. There is no thermostat so the interior temperature of the refrigerator is dependent upon the temperature of the room it is in.
The unit’s maximum performance is chilling to a temperature 25 to 30° LOWER than the room temperature – with a room temperature 70, expect an interior temperature of 40 to 45°. Only ambient room temperature can alter the internal temperature, you can’t adjust it except to move it to a different room/location.
Got a pink one for my daughter for Christmas. The teens use it for their makeup/skin care. I guess that’s a thing now. Has been working great so far.
Bear in mind that these tiny fridges might NOT keep your food at safe temperatures. The description says “Cools 27-38 degrees Fahrenheit below ambient room temperature” A safe fridge temp is 40F, and the fridge might not get that low if the room temp is over 67F – 78F. However, these are really cute for keeping drinks cool at your desk 🙂
