This game was loads of fun. I never played the first one and thought that I’d be lost and clueless on certain aspects of the game but it’s its own standalone story. Each of the characters and star sparks has unique abilities to help play be a breeze. The turn-based strategy games usually bore me and feel like a drag but this game was fun and accessible!
I am a massive fan of the first Mario + Rabbids. I replayed the game annually up until the release of Sparks of Hope, and thankfully I can confidently say that Sparks improves upon almost every aspect of Kingdom Battle. Combat is much nicer and flows better, the overworld is less linear and offers more freedom, the story is interesting, and the game is loaded with content. The music is also great, but I think Kingdom Battle’s music is more memorable. Overall I would give Sparks of Hope a 9.5/10!
