We are a Purple Mattress family, but I’m telling you, either you love Purple Mattresses or you hate them. There’s no in-between with this mattress. They are far from firm, so if you prefer a more firm feel, you may not like this.
They have a few types that are a little bit more firm, but they all feel like you’re in a little nest when you lay on them. You kind of cave into them and you feel like you’re in a cloud. It’s got the most amazing and squishy feeling, like “I just wanna sink into it and go to sleep forever” feeling. However, my sister prefers a more firm bed, and she’s like “Get me out of this thing, I’m so uncomfortable” when lying on my bed.
It may be more helpful to go to a store that sells them and lay on them to see what you like, and then come back to our post to snag a deal if you like the feel of them.
I LOVE Purple though, I think it’s an awesome mattress and my whole family loves it so, so much. I would highly recommend it, but again, it may not be for everyone.

I’ve had my Purple Mattress for three years and it is hands down the BEST mattress I’ve ever had. It’s comfortable and has just the right amount of firmness and softness at the same time without being too stiff. Several of my friends have purchased Purple Mattresses after hearing me rave about mine and they are just as obsessed.
Initially, I was wondering if it would live up to the hype and be worth the price. I can honestly say it’s absolutely worth it. I typically get hot when I sleep and my old mattress seemed to make me even hotter. My Purple Mattress is cooling and keeps me comfortable all night.
Another thing that I love about Purple Mattresses is their return policy. A mattress is a big investment so I like that I was able to see if it was a good fit for me without worrying about being out the money if I didn’t like it. I will say to be sure to give it a couple of weeks to adjust if you are going from a regular mattress. The Purple sleeps a little differently but in a very good way.

This post is really helpful. We have actually been mattress shopping and have been torn between Purple and Temperpedic. I have back issues and need something a little firmer than our current mattress, and after reading Collin’s comments on the Purple, I’m thinking Temperpedic might be the way we need to go. But most of the people I know who have Purple do love them.

Hey Samantha! Angela has owned her purple mattress since 2020, along with the platform frame available here. She also shared – I am plus sized and have not had any issues with dipping, I rotate it monthly (you can’t flip due to how it is). Also, I like it because it folds in half and is already assembled when you get it. Some you have to put together and I don’t have time for all those shenanigans.

i have the original purple mattress and I’m a plus size girl. i’ve own mine for 7 yrs and there’s no “dipping” or any problems with it. I’m very happy and i recommend purple mattress to everyone!

Hi there, Diane! I did find this information on the base if helpful ❤️ – You won’t want to use a box spring. The springs of a box spring can break down over time and cause the mattress to sag. Purple mattresses need a flat, sturdy surface to rest on. This can be a platform, slats (3″ apart or less), box foundation (as opposed to a box spring), an adjustable bed frame, or even the floor – it all works just fine.
