Genius or Creepy? ZURU’s New Pregnant Doll Comes With a Slime-Filled Amniotic Sac
Just when you think you’ve seen every toy gimmick out there, a new release comes along that makes you do a double-take. ZURU is releasing its new My Mini Pregnant Mom & Baby Surprise dolls, and yes, the surprise newborn actually comes inside a gooey, slime-filled amniotic sac you have to pop open!
Is it weird? Absolutely. Are we fascinated? 100%. The viral unboxing videos are already racking up views because people can’t decide whether this is peak gross-out fun or just totally bizarre.
Beyond the dramatic “birth” experience, each mini mom doll comes with a surprise baby, cozy swaddle, and themed accessories.

Why do we rush kids to grow up so fast? Childhood is so short and adulthood so long. Every child is different but my granddaughter would be upset by this. A hard pass from me with absolutely no criticism for anyone else that might like it.
I would not buy this for the littles in our life. I think the pregnant Mom doll is fine but the slime sac baby is just a little too far to go. I don’t mind the little baby accessory.
What will they come out with next LOL . I mean if I had a little girl I wouldn’t buy this hahah.
As a CNM, even I think this is nuts and just unnecessary for young children.
But do tell me. In the interest of transparency and accuracy, do any of the dolls come with green slime to resemble mec-stained fluid? 🤔
Creepy. Children at the age that play with dolls do not need that much information.
I’m curious to know the recommended age for this? I don’t know if it would be beneficial for a family where the intention is for older children to be present at a new siblings birth? I do know families that cherish that experience. Seeing live births in nursing school was very emotional for me, and I was in my early 20s. I reckon I’m glad my kids are teens, and we’re past the doll stage, lol. I’m not necessarily convinced, but find the conversation interesting nonetheless. Thanks H2S!

I did a quick Google search and here’s what I found on the intended age range – “The recommended age for ZURU My Mini Baby and Mom & Baby Surprise dolls is 3 years and up. This rating is due to small parts that may present a choking hazard for younger children.”
I dont understand women who think growing a baby is inappropriate in someway. It seems to come from a place of old fashioned self hate. You either lay an egg or you grow a fluid sac – thats it. Somehow people are implying theres something gross or sexual about a fetus in amniotic fluid.
Am I the only one wondering how the baby comes out? I mean, I know how it goes in real life but how do the kids this amniotic filled sac outta there? Are they supposed to be a kid and a doula at the same time? LOL While this doll isn’t one I would buy for a child, I would want to buy it just out of curiosity alone. 🙂

I actually think the idea is kind of cool. Siblings who have a pregnant mom are often learning all kinds of things about their mom’s pregnancy as they prepare to be a big brother or sister. As I kid, I also liked dolls that were more realistic, so I probably would have liked this. My only issue is that the dolls themselves look too teenager-y to me — like pregnant teens. Maybe I’m just getting old and everyone younger than me looks like a kid these days…
