Amazon is continuing to send automatic payments to eligible Prime customers as part of a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. Amazon has already issued more than $845 million in refunds, and payments will continue through April 2027.

Who qualifies for an Amazon Prime refund?

You may be eligible if you meet all three of these requirements:

  • You are an Amazon Prime customer in the United States.
  • You signed up for Prime through one of Amazon’s challenged enrollment flows or tried to cancel your Prime membership through the online cancellation process but were unable to do so between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025.
  • You used no more than 20 Amazon Prime benefits during any 12-month period following your Prime enrollment. Prime benefits can include things like Prime shipping, Prime Video, Prime Music, and other benefits included with your membership.

The challenged enrollment flows include Amazon’s universal Prime decision page, shipping selection page, single-page checkout, and Prime Video enrollment flow.

How much could you get?

Eligible Prime customers can receive a refund of their Amazon Prime subscription fees, with a maximum total payment of $200.

Some eligible customers previously received payments of up to $51. Under the revised settlement order, Amazon may send additional payments of up to $149, bringing the maximum total payment to $200.

Do I need to file a claim?

Nope! If you’re eligible, you don’t need to submit a claim, fill out a form, or respond to a notice. Amazon will automatically send your refund.

When will Amazon send the refunds?

Eligible customers will receive their payment by April 2027 either mailed by check or electronically through PayPal or Venmo.

If you receive a payment, be sure to accept it within 60 days of the issue date, since payments expire after that time.

Watch out for Amazon refund scams!

Getting a refund? Great! Just make sure you don’t fall for a scam along the way. The FTC says it isn’t contacting people about these Amazon refunds, so don’t send money or personal information to anyone who claims they can get your payment for you.

And remember, Amazon will never ask you to pay to receive your refund.
