On June 12, 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of more than 1.15 million Anker PowerCore 10000 power banks (model A1263) due to fire and burn hazards. The lithium-ion battery inside can overheat, melt the casing, smoke, or even catch fire.
What You Need to Know:
These power banks were sold between June 1, 2016, and December 31, 2022, through popular retailers like Anker.com, Amazon, eBay, and Newegg, typically priced around $27.
So far, there have been 19 reported incidents, including two cases of minor burns and 11 reports of property damage, with losses totaling over $60,000.
What You Should Do:
- Stop using the power bank immediately.
- Check the model and serial number to confirm if yours is part of the recall.
- If so, submit a claim following the instructions on Anker’s recall page
- Do not dispose of your power bank until you receive confirmation from Anker that your unit qualifies.
- Dispose of it safely at a certified lithium battery recycling or hazardous waste center. Do not throw it in the trash or curbside recycling.
- You will receive either a free replacement or a $30 gift card if replacements are delayed.
