Bed Bath & Beyond is Buying The Container Store & Expanding

Bed Bath & Beyond is acquiring The Container Store and adding it to its growing group of home brands. If the deal closes this summer, stores will be rebranded as “The Container Store / Bed Bath & Beyond,” and they’ll lean into Container Store’s closet and storage business as they expand more home services.
This deal also follows their purchase of Kirkland’s last year, so they’ve been steadily pulling together more home and décor brands under one roof. Between Kirkland’s (about 300+ stores) and The Container Store (just over 100 stores), the company will have more than 400 physical locations.
Most of The Container Store locations are expected to stay open, and instead of opening new stores, the focus seems to be on updating existing ones and adding home products as well as services like flooring, lighting, and kitchen and bath upgrades. The plan also includes combining operations across the brands to cut costs and run things more efficiently.
