Mark your calendar! May 2nd is Free Comic Book Day and local shops are giving out free comics! To find a participating shop near you, enter your zip code into the Free Comic Book Day Store Locator.
Many local shops also host fun extras like contests, creator signings, and photo ops with costumed characters.
Most stores limit free comics to one per person, though some may offer more, so check listings ahead of time and plan your stops!

Hip readers have really enjoyed Free Comic Day in the past…
We have been participating in this event for years now. Our local comic book store allows you to pick five comics for free and five more if you make a purchase. Free comics are created for the event. We love going because they always have a sale. Today, all comics were 50% off!
We were able to participate through our library and we got so many fun titles. We also got some graphic novels (book-style) stickers, tattoos, and a last kids on earth inflatable bat for free! So much fun!
